Afraid I'll have to disagree for myself.. While I do agree that a lot of people just take the pastor's word for it (or Reverend, Priest etc) I did not. That's why I wrote 'below' that my bible was dog eared, written in and bookmarked through and through. I bought an Strong's exhaustive Concordance. I waded through the bible from front to back - from back to front, word by word in some case. Then I did it again and again and again.. After that I branched out to apocrypha et al..

I've been watching this discussion for some time and feel the need to "wade in," so to speak.

About 15 years ago I began to take a new look at the Bible, totally putting aside all that I had been taught and starting from scratch - Genesis 1:1. At that time I realized that many of the verses that I THOUGHT I knew were not the way I remembered them. The lion/lamb verse was one of them.

It turns out that the verse always did say the lamb would lay with the wolf: And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, And the leopard will lie down with the young goat, And the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; And a little boy will lead them. (Isa 11:6 - NASB) I looked in a Revised Standard from 1962, and it said the same thing. I also own a King James from 1947, and it also says the same thing.

After much research, this is what I discovered: the average Christian does NOT read the Bible for themselves. In Sunday school we are given verses to memorize; did we ever go and look them up to make sure we got them right? No, we just memorized what we were told.

The Son of God came first as our sacrificial lamb; when He returns it will be as the Lion of Judah. The lion and the lamb describe the Messiah, not the coming kingdom. The verses in Isaiah describe the earth when Messiah comes and rules. It is easy to confuse verses when they are not read in context, which is all too common these days.

People these days are too distracted to truly pay attention. Most people look like they are listening, but they are actually too busy thinking of their response to hear what is actually being said. If we'd only take time to listen, to read for ourselves, then we may discover there is a lot more going on out there than what we thought. As more people are awakening from their slumber, and are discovering that they were not paying attention, they need to give a name to what they are feeling, hence the "Mandela Effect."
