SAFETY BULLETIN - Provide Your Pets and People Some Shade During Hot Weather - Heat Wave

Just a reminder, folks, to provide some shade for your family, friends and pets, also, during this heat wave and during all hot weather. Leaving those animals out there without any shade when it is a hundred or more degrees outside is not a good idea and may not be allowed in some jurisdictions, especially when it involves leashed animals. It is especially dangerous and can be life-threatening to leave people or pets in vehicles in hot weather.

According to reports several years ago a woman in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area suffered the theft of her air conditioning unit during a heat wave and died from heatstroke or heat exhaustion before a unit could be re-installed for her. Heat can be deadly. Bring water, at least some small bottles of water, when traveling.

It's a good idea to give those horses and cattle a shed or some shade trees and plenty of water during extremely hot weather.

In this area, Texas, it has been over a hundred degrees in the shade on most days.

As always, it's a good idea to have a place to go at sundown and stay there until morning.
