Big Sur, Ca. Wildfire Destroys 57 Homes, 1 Dead Firefighter, Only 15% Contained

The wildfire that began July 22 north of Big Sur burned more than 35,000 acres and destroyed 57 homes causing 350 people to evacuate. A contractor who operated a bulldozer has died fighting the fire.

The worst part may be yet to come as it is reportedly only 15% contained and could take a month to extinguish. Another fire east of San Jose reported. Others also around the country.

Part of America's modern history is wild weather and wild fires. Think of the natural resources and personal wealth just burned up in smoke here. While some Americans are able to proceed with things there are others who suffer complete devastation and loss, a new norm which seems to be escalating.
