When the National Radio Astronomy Observatory is searching for radio signals from billions of light-years away, they don't want to pick up your Pokemon Go session. So Green Bank, West Virginia, has never had cell phone service, and never will, and no wifi, CB radios, or walkie-talkies. Radio and TV broadcasts do not penetrate this secluded valley deep in the Appalachians.

I have been there several times. The National Radio Astronomy Observatory is truly impressive (see video below). They use only diesel vehicles with no electrical systems on the NRAO grounds near the radio telescopes. Don't bring a digital camera, only an old manual film camera if you have one.
