Few folks understand that the Supreme Court makeup was intentionally and specifically designed to be non partisan and exempt from personal beliefs.

The original charter expressed in the Constitution was to consist of SIX judges. Strange you say? Well, think a bit. With six members, it was possible to have a tie vote. A split decision, (tie) resulted in no opinion, letting stand the argument to be decided by a more localized lower court.

So, is this bad? Not at all. It does express that the Constitution has no say, either way, thus insuring that further arguments in the case be modified or accepted on decentralized terms. IOW, a tie vote would mean that the Federal Government would have no LEGAL jurisdiction in the matter.

With six judges, it is also obvious that a TWO THIRDS majority of the justices would be required for any decision issued, pro or con.

IOW, a single justice, or even 2 or 3 in cahoots, could not prevail in personally or politically motivated decisions. A great protection for the people of the Republic.

It was a GREAT concept. The sheer genius of the founders is demonstrated once again...But, as we know, through the years we the people of the Republic have been usurped in that the number of justices has been increased through the years at first to 7, then 8, and now the current nine.

Notwithstanding that an odd number removes the possibility of a tie (no decision) vote. (unless one justice should recuse their self, which is rare to the point of vanishingly small)

Although the justices are SUPPOSED to deliberate in closed session, in the present reality, that is not the case. Public statements and news leaks are the norm, giving nefarious cliques ample opportunity to employ tactics to "persuade" the proper judges to see it their way.

It is obvious that purely selfish and political motives originated the change in the number of justices over the years, as any one can surmise based on when the change happened and the unconstitutional edicts began.

One could go on and on about the ways the Republic was usurped. For example, the 17th amendment which allowed Senators to be elected rather than appointed by the various state legislatures resulted in political longevity for senators who had the most money collected from special interest lobbies.

This removed another federal control mechanism from the hands of local voters, who indeed had much closer control over their state legislatures, and could DEMAND removal of corrupt Senators.

And, note that this rant does not even mention the UNCONSTITUTIONAL Federal Reserve, which as most know is neither federal, nor do they have a reserve. This abomination was brought about by the thirteenth amendment, passed in the dead of night by banker bought senators.

In opposition again to the founders wisdom, which stipulated that congress alone had the power of the federal purse, and that only gold and silver be money.

Alas, until we return to the wisdom which founded this Republic, and remove Federal interference in Education, individual personal choice, we will continue to circle the drain.
