Stephanie Cegielski was communications director of a PAC using Trump's slogan Make America Great Again as its name. PACs, of course, are not supposed to have contact with a candidate's staff, but this one did, and as a result came under election commission scrutiny, and the PAC was therefore shut down last October. Trump has repeatedly said he doesn't want any outside support, which would imply he really doesn't want or care about PACs.

I get the feeling that this PAC was either set up by, or was infiltrated and sabotaged by, agent-provocateurs with the intention of becoming a liability to the Trump campaign. Ms. Cegielski may have been one of these, and certainly was never part of Trump's staff, let alone a "top strategist" that "just quit". The use of such language in connection with a peripheral and insignificant figure such as her her certainly shows an intent to deceive on the part of the anti-Trump news outlets spreading this report.
