After ten years journey ESA's ROSETTA probe has successfully managed to reach it's goal by orbiting comet 67P/C-G. A phantastic technological achievement, indeed! At least for the telemetry and rocket engeneers. The next step was the release of a lander - called PHILAE (after the ancient Egypt isle of ISIS)- towards the cometary surface where it should anchor and conduct various experiments during the next months. As we all know PHILAE managed to land softly on the surface of the comet three days ago. But unfortunately it bounced off -probably two times- as the so thought "anchoring" devices didn't work out as designed.

The European Space Agency (ESA) rushed to declare their mission as a success immediately.

But was it really such a success?

I would compare the recent situation with a guy buying a brandnew car, getting in -- turning on the engine -- and bumping with his first acceleration right into the next tree. He gets out and smilingly states that "he did drive that car successfully"...

That driver is the political body of the ESA.

So to say I would dare to state that the Rosetta mission has failed -- at least until now -- despite the attempts for a politically motivateted whitewash. Some billions of fundings are at stake -- and you have to present the taxpayer a "success"! You simply have to -- else there will be no money for scientific clerks, yea-sayers and ideologically broomed tinkerers next time.

As I have elaborated through Twitter here you can see the smoking gun, a mission "eggspert" holding a (boring & partly confused) presentation about her involvement as a "scientific leader" (Matt came after her) with the Rosetta mission.

Although Rosetta had approached her target already and it should have been clearly visible for all that there were no traces of snow and ice on the surface Rita Schulz still beated those drums of ol'beliefs by stating those usual "snowy dirtballings" plus similar evangelisticlike credos! And this was in the beginning of September 2014!

So what could you expect from a team where the very leaders and designers of the mission themselves are corrupted by false dogmas and victorian beliefs?

Answer: Exactly that "Philae"-moment, that we were all able to participate "live"*) now -- at least always one day after the actual events had occured using that usual "spin-delay". Just remember the rumblemumble over Philae's anchoring harpoon fired/misfired/was-not-fired-at-all...

Want to know what? The harpoon didn't anchor successfully as their imaginary "ice" turned out to be rock hard pumice in reality. After all the Rosetta scientists have tested that Philae-harpoon with plywood(!) only. They knew it would fail for harder surfaces. But they ignored this fact as they believed the sermons of their 1%-"superiors".

It had to be ice.

Despite various warnings for decades that there is basically no difference between asteroids and comets - as far as their structure is concerned - the credo of "dirty snowballs" - or the following counterspin of "snowy dirtballs" has been debunked, again. The observed water is produced through electrical means (EDM) by interaction between the positive Hydrogen-Ions from the solar "wind" with the electrically sputtered negative Oxygen-Ions from the rocks on the surface (e.g.: SiO2) of a comet. O + H = HO + H = H2O, water.

Comets themselves are stonedry and rockhard. No ice, no water on, behind or below the surface!
