You don't see this in other cultures. Only white history being erased. 'The Wizard of Oz,' is now multicultural, Lil Orphan Annie changed colors, too. Santa (Kris Kringle) was a Nordic white person and now he comes in all colors as if being white is a bad thing. Poor Thor is going to change genders and now Nancy Drew is no longer white. She's being 'ethicized' (and aged)for your pleasure.

I applaud new shows and especially new shows that give shining examples for our younger generation. However, stealing identities is not cool. Why not invent a NEW young detective minded, lady? She can be any color you want. Why take white characters and erase them?

A Nancy Drew television show is being developed by CBS

Glenn Geller, the president of CBS Entertainment, has revealed: '[She will] not [be] Caucasian. I'd be open to any ethnicity' (I thought 'white' was an ethnicity?)

It was earlier revealed the show would have the character be in her thirties

Nancy Drew would be a police detective in New York City

The Hollywood Reporter quoted Geller as saying: 'We have a lot of new series in development, both series targeted to have full African-American or Latino casts but also many leads that are being developed [as diverse].

'We're not casting color blind, we're casting color conscious.'

Nancy Drew made her debut in The Secret of the Old Clock, which was published in 1930. Books featuring the character continue to be published.
