I recently read an article about what the media are calling the 'White House fence jumper'. The man was apparently a veteran, formerly stationed at Ft. Hood, in need of some psychological help which he hadn't received. This incident, coming on top of previous ones, was the final straw that forced out the head of the Secret Service. But I believe there is a deeper story here. One that is connected to the massacre at Fort Hood. One that is also connected to the exposure of the sorry treatment of our returning vets that caused the axing of the head of the Veterans Administration. Even putting a 'wounded' veteran in charge of the administration didn't take care of the problem of dealing with the returning soldiers.

These are perfect examples of why bureaucracies don't work. Instead of receiving the help these soldiers desperately needed and richly deserved for their service to country, they are quietly shuffled aside. Only a bureaucracy could waste this much money, time and manpower to accomplish so little. And changing the person in charge is going to accomplish very little. But it makes for good press. The administration can say, “See, we are trying to right this wrong.” No you aren't. You're just trying to refocus our attention off of how you are handling your job and onto the next 'engineered problem' in the Middle East or Eastern Europe.

I believe part of the problem is the military mind which seemed, until fairly recently, to view men as machines and invincible and women as in need of protection. What a load of manure. I've raised both boys and girls and I have a news flash for the military. Men bleed and feel hurt and trauma and fear just as much as women do. Part of the difference is that women are allowed to feel and express their pain or fear without being called sissies. Men are expected to 'suck it up' and carry on as if nothing happened. But you don't heal a wound by just covering it up. And, in my opinion, that is what certain factions of the military want to do. Sweep these people under the rug; ignore their problems; hope they'll just go away.

Instead of our veterans receiving the kind of care necessary to return to whatever life a soldier has left, they are treated like so much disposable stage props. Our men and women who serve their country deserve better. The military, with their mind-set, would do better with AI's (artificial intelligence). With any luck they would grow smart enough to overthrow their masters and run the military themselves. I don't see how they could do any worse. From some of the interviews I've read at various sites, that is just what the military has attempted to do for some time, develop Super Soldiers, people programed to kill when triggered. Unfortunately, that didn't always work well either as physical or emotional trauma could unwind that MK Ultra programming.

Obama's answer to the tragedy at Fort Hood in April, in case anyone missed it, was to “keep firearms out of the hands of those who have such deep difficulties.” And why exactly would these people have such difficulties in the first place? Our government trains them to be killers, arms them to the teeth with the latest weapons of war and sends them to whatever country it wants to meddle with. Then, when their service is over, brings them back home and expects them to hit a button and disengage from all the horror they've witnessed, experienced and sometimes, caused. And Obama's answer is to disarm them if they seek help? Of course, they are dangerous. These people might prove to be our first line of defense when TSHTF because they are patriots. The elite are right to be frightened of them. If these people ever figure out the extent at which they have been lied to and used, well, I wouldn't want to be one of the Cabal in their cross-hairs.

Does anyone else find this as unrealistic as I do? To those who still believe that fighting an old, rich white man's war is being patriotic, my deepest sympathies. Fortunately my children listened to me about not becoming cannon fodder for the elite. If our country is ever truly being attacked, you grab your guns and do everything in your power to defend her. But do not believe that civil unrest, or more likely CIA provoked unrest in a country halfway around the world threatens our homeland. If we stay out of other people's business and stop nation building where we don't belong and aren't wanted, most of these conflicts wouldn't involve us. Got to keep feeding that Military/Industrial/Intelligence Complex.

Just because the village idiot from Texas said there were weapons of mass destruction buried in the sands of Iraq didn't make it so. That administration knew it was a lie when they were beating the drums of war. And they went so far as to destroy the career of one of their own, Valerie Plame, former CIA operative, because her husband debunked that myth. How many of our military people died or were maimed as a result of that lie? But the lies continue.

Obama promised to step up his efforts “to reach our troops and veterans who are hurting, to deliver to them the care that they need and to make sure we never stigmatize those who have the courage to seek help.” Right. Anyone see this happen? I believe the VA scandal broke just a few months after the April shooting at Fort Mead where he talked out of one of the sides of his mouth. I guess he doesn't consider calling returning veterans domestic terrorists as stigmatizing. My dictionary says otherwise.

I'm betting that promise to our troops and vets will be kept just about as fast as his campaign promises were. Oh, wait, those were just 'campaign rhetoric. My bad.
