Mark 13:21-25
21 And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not:
22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.
23 But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.
24 But in those days, AFTER THAT TRIBULATION, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. (KJV)
Notice the words "AFTER That Tribulation"...
The sun moon and stars will be darkened by the arrival and brightness of the shining one. Lucifer, AKA Satan, the fallen angel.
Just as there are two "tribulations" foretold, there are TWO "antichrists" yet to manifest on the earthly scene.
There are many events in God's WORD that are taken by "Bible Scholars" as identical, even though the accounts are obviously different. Examples;
1) The "two" accounts of creation as given in Genesis chapters 1 & 2.
2) The "two" accounts of Jesus' entry into Jerusalem: Mk 11 and Matt 21.
3) The "two" accounts of the words of the thief: Matt 27-Mk 15, & Lk 23.
4) The "two" annointings Jn 12 and Matt 26, Mk14.
5) The "two" sets of Peter's 3 denials of Jesus- Jn 13 and Lk 24.
6) the "two" tribulations spoken by Jesus in Matt 24 and Mk 13.
It is this latter one that is seldom taught, yet is the most obvious for those who believe all of God's WORD is both true and not contradicted.
Matt 24, Mk 13, and Lk 21 are all accounts BY JESUS of the last times. Matt 24: 1-29 describes the "tribulation of Antichrist". In it Jesus reveals the 6 seals as given in Rev chapter 6. The tribulation that follows is the wrath of GOD, which is in itself is the seventh seal. Likewise, Mk 13:1-24 follows the same pattern, and beginning with v 25, the second.
There is much more detail offered on the seals, trumps and vials in the article http://home.earthlink.net/~bobseller1/id13.html
In summary, the 'first tribulation' is that of the false prophet, who is indeed just a human. It is he who brings forth the events that most refer to as "the" tribulation. Yes, it causes much human suffering.
But the one to come after is scheduled to 'relieve' humankind from such suffering. The one who for eons has wanted just one thing..to be worshiped as God. Indeed, he will bring forth miracles which will be supernatural. He will come in bringing peace. He will deliver flesh pleasures to all, if they would truly worship him. He is supernatural. He is Satan, in person, not someone who is 'possessed'.
Lk 21 gives an account of the duties of true believers in that time. Now it is noised about (by MAN I might add) that the "church" will be gone away by that time, like butterflies in the "rapture". How anyone can believe Jesus's words in Matt 24:29-31, Mk 13:24-27, LK 21:25-31 and still accept such tripe is beyond me. Even in the OT, Eze 13:18-23 condemns it. Jesus Himself said it would not happen.. (Jn 17:15)
Our Father has fortold all things, but we need to believe Him, not man. Mk 13:23: In Matt 24:4, Mk 13:5, Lk 21:8 he warns about deception. The word "antichrist" is often not understood by many. We have been taught that it just means "opposite" to Christ. It doesn't. It means "instead of Christ"! The word was never used by Jesus, and is used only 4 times in the Bible- thrice in 1 Jn and once in 2 Jn. Christ spoke of antichrist in Jn 5:43. See also Jn 17:15.
Strong's # 500 antichristos (an-tee'-khris-tos); from 473 and 5547; an opponent of the Messiah: KJV-- antichrist. (DIC)
Strong's # 473 anti (an-tee'); a primary particle; opposite, i.e. instead or because of (rarely in addition to): KJV-- for, in the room of. Often used in composition to denote contrast, requital, substitution, correspondence, etc. (DIC)
Now, man will have you believe that "some man from the middle east" will pose as antichrist. This may be, but he is not the one who is to come as described by Jesus in Matt 24:24, Mk 13:22. Satan will come in the "flesh", just as he did in Gen 3, Job 1&2, Mk 1, Matt 4, & Lk 4. Isa 14:12-14 describes him as the great "I will", contrasting him to our Father, the I AM. Ezekiel 28:12-19 describes satan's beauty and wisdom which deceived Eve and many others. No, beloved, satan's great pride will not allow any mere man to stand in for him when he poses as Christ and recieves the worship of many well-meaning christians. Understand now Rev 3:10. God's elect will not find this one tempting as Eve and others did. To us his "peace and safety" will be like a bug in our ice cream!
This may be strange to you, and if it is I beg you to read the word for yourself, don't take anyones word in the place of the WORD of GOD!
IF, for example, you wish to be a "firstfruit" to God, you need to know who the firstfruits are. They were not "RAPTURED" there, they came out of the confusion-- Read it for yourself in Rev 14 verses 1-5. Man teaches that if You hear and don't believe, you face sure Hell, but see Jn 12:47-48. Thus man is not the Judge, praise GOD, but the Living WORD is!
