According to Thomas Jefferson, the only function of government is to protect it's citizens. So how did we get to where we are today with a plethora of rules to govern every area of our lives? How did we move from a relatively free society to what we have today? There is actually a formula to accomplish this as was presented on this website earlier. But it bears repeating until people wake up and take back control of their country and their lives.
How to Close a Society Down
1.Invoke fear of an external threat. In our case TPTB used 9/11. The fear that this treachery invoked was palatable. People were fearful and looking to the government to do something. Not to worry, the government had their 'Solution' already written up and ready to install. The Patriot Act was handed to Congress at 3am and had to be voted on by 11am. How many members of Congress do you think read it before signing it? Two.
2. Secret prisons where torture takes place. Through the Military Commissions Act and the National Defense Authorization Act, habeus corpus and due process are gone. And this includes U.S. Citizens. Whoever is in power decides who will be arrested, imprisoned or tortured.
3.Develop a paramilitary force. Blackwater headed by Eric Prince for one example. The people they hire are handpicked because of their views on torture. Remember their behavior in Iraq? And U.S. Law shielded them from prosecution. Does anyone else remember Obama's speech about our need for a domestic military? One that answers only to him of course. Let's not forget Homeland Security whose only security will be for the elite. Or did you think those billions of rounds of hollow point bullets they purchased were to protect you from the Big Bad Russian wolf?
4.Surveil ordinary citizens. Need I remind anyone of Edward Snowden and the NSA? Between that and the 'See Something-Say Something' programs I see spreading in communities across this country, we are fast becoming Nazi Germany. Mass arrests are always a sign of a closing society. That will be next. Anyone who criticizes the government or what they do are targeted. When you want to close down a society you keep everyone under surveillance so everyone is too afraid to speak up. It worked in Hitlers Germany, in Stalin's Russia and in Mao's China.
5.Infiltrate citizen's groups. The Pentagon acknowledged the existence of a secret spying program in America. What a surprise! What is the real purpose of Homeland Security? From everything I've seen it is to protect the government from the citizens. Infiltrating citizens protest groups illegally and planting trouble makers who try to ratchet up the protest to levels of violence justifies a crackdown by police. This was attempted in several areas with the Occupy Wall Street group. But people soon became much more savvy, could spot them and hand them over to police.
6.Detain and release ordinary citizens. Constant surveillance, arrest and release to intimidate individuals, especially the leaders of a group is another sign of the attempt to close a society.
7.Target key individuals. Anyone who is in a position to sway peoples thinking or those who don't 'play ball' with TPTB are targeted for harassment. Two names that were mentioned were Dan Rather of CBS and Valarie Plame. Both of these people had their careers cut short and their names dragged through the mud. Others have lost their lives, like William Cooper, author of 'Behold a Pale Horse' and Michael Hastings, investigative journalist.
Anyone familiar with the Constitution, Bill of Rights and the personal papers of the Founding Fathers will realize that they were leery of a standing army because it could be used as a club by those in power with the intent of remaining in power. That is why they said an army could only last for two years. I assume that was after the end of a conflict. And that's the way it was until after WWII. The Navy did not have that requirement put on them as they were not viewed as being capable of becoming a police state. It is no wonder to me why our military is being purged of their top commanders. Too many of them meant their oath when they took it. The police also take an oath but for the most part, the police of today exist to protect the government. That's pretty clear.
Sadly, an education today is not going to equip you with the ability to think critically, to question and to make informed choices. As H.L.Mencken said,
“The aim of public education is not to spread enlightenment at all; it's simply to reduce as many individuals as possible to the same level; to breed a standard citizenry; to put down dissent and originality.” Welcome to the Matrix!

That is why America is moving toward Socialism today. Common Law creates rules necessary for a peaceful society with a minimum of infringements on individual freedom. Laws that help to settle disagreements between individuals actually settle conflicts. On the contrary, it does not create a mechanism for social control.
That is the path given to us by the Socialists. Common Law arises out of the need for peaceful coexistence not out of the need for political forces to control the citizenry. Common Law then can guarantee us of such things as property rights, freedom or at least compensation from aggressive acts; contractual agreements between individuals. But not restriction of our freedom of speech or assembly or religious choices.
The right to keep our property has been diluted by the law of 'eminent domain' which says your property can be confiscated at a fair market rate if it benefits a majority of people in the area. This law has been badly abused, in many cases enriching an already wealthy developer with deep pockets and political connections. Common Law does not dictate what political party we should belong to, if any or whom we decide to have sex with as long as they are of consenting age. Those are Socialists views.
Only the legislators of a government, that is made up of whatever political elements have managed to gain control of a nation, can make laws that are consciously created to reflect their political beliefs that limit or restrict the freedom of some of the people while advocating the political interest of others.
Common Law provides for a civility among individuals. Ever increasing government rules only provides for the exploitation of the citizens by whatever politically dominant group is in power. Common Law brings order and peace to a society. It actually provides for the true equality of citizens. Domination of the people for their own good is the argument put forth by Socialists whose aim is to control the population and exploit them to their benefit. But that argument is a lie.
Ever increasing rules and regulations limit individual freedoms and produce strife; the very thing that Socialism claims it will eliminate. They just fail to tell you how selective they will be and how their form of law and order will be maintained with a club.
Socialists use the lie that the working class will be able to attain the level of the wealthy of a country. But whether the political rulers court and protect the wealthy or the wealthy are forced to flee, the lives of the working class seldom change. The only real change is that now the leaders of the revolution have control of the wealth and the workers have ever increasing rules that stifle dissent.
And don't think that your senator or representative will help you out. The only thing that a politician cares about is getting or staying in power. Never forget Lenin's playbook.
“You must come to power, in any way that you can. The important thing is to come to power. Lie, steal, kill if you must but come to power. Do not debate. Once you are in power you can afford the luxury of debate. Because then, if you don't like what someone says you can shoot them. Remember that promises are like pie crust, made to be broken. Find out what are the people's beliefs and become that person. They will follow you anywhere. They will follow you to their own destruction. Once you are in power, then you can betray them.”
Now, who does that remind me of? Politicians don't care about you. They pretend to at election time or if you call their office, they will talk like they care but what do they really do? They make laws and their laws are backed by the threat of violence if we don't comply. They will use their private army– law enforcement to force compliance and their agencies to collect our tax dollars. Understand once and for all, they don't care about you. The word politician should be considered a synonym for sociopath. You are either the cattle or cannon fodder. That is all you are to politicians. You are there to provide for them. Don't think so? Look at all the perks Congress has voted for itself over the years. In years where the cost of living far outstripped the wages of workers, Congress still managed to vote themselves a pay raise or other perk. Are they really that out of touch? I'd say so.
That is the reason for the move from Common Law to Socialism. This country was not founded on the rights of the community but on the rights of the individual. Communities have no rights. The individual has rights. We are seeing the results of the attempt to destroy our constitutional freedoms and the experiment in Socialism that is attempting to supplant it.
This is the difference between independence and dependence. When we were free to pursue our talents and dreams we were a nation strong and proud, free to farm or create objects or services of necessity for others. My grandfather, a diversified farmer, answered to no one except Mother Nature and possibly grandmother. The farmer of today has become a prostitute to the government regulations that threaten to strangle him and eventually run him off of his farm if he refuses to play ball.
How many of our citizens are in a position to provide for themselves if our government failed tomorrow? How many are now dependent on the government for their food, housing and medical care? And the Cabal wants 99% of us in that position. That is the true goal of Obamacare.
There are many of us, however, who do know how to survive and thrive independently and we will teach others to do the same. Government collapse will not necessarily result in anarchy or social disorder. Much will depend on how many others wake up and see what is happening to this country. Common Law can be quickly reestablished. Hopefully, we have learned our lesson. The one spoken by Thomas Jefferson:
“A government big enough to give you everything you want is also big enough to take everything you have.”
