American 16 military transport aircraft C-27 are sold for scrap, purchased a few years ago in Italy by Afghanistan for 486 million dollars. Price for the metal is 32 thousand dollars.

United States Inspector for the reconstruction of Afghanistan, John Sopko said that the United States sold to the Afghan army 16 cargo aircraft C-27 (also known as G.222) the total cost of which was 486 million dollars and now they are sold as scrap.

"I learned that 16 aircraft G.222 in Kabul have recently been towed to the far end of the airport and sold for scrap by the Office for Logistics. I was also informed that the Afghan construction company paid approximately six cents per pound (weight) of the aircraft, which in general is 32 thousand Dollars ", - says an official at the Pentagon, and requests for comment.
