Recorded in 1932, here's the Ray Noble Orchestra, vocal by Val Rosing, with "Try a Little Tenderness", written by Jimmy Campbell, Reg Connelly and Harry M. Woods.

This is the initial recording of the song. It may sound a bit dopey to those of us who thought the song began and ended with the Otis Redding version (which, I'm told, was inspired by Aretha Franklin's version), but there's a sweetness to it that kinda grows on you as the song goes along. :) And, of course, it was written to be danced to.
