The Human – And, The Earthling

DNA is the building block of life – it carriers the complete instruction set for building and maintaining an organism – from the human form to a grain of yeast. A Human and a grain of yeast may not, at first glance, look like cousins. And yet we share a quarter of our genes with yeast.

We share 36% DNA with Fruit Fly; 75% with Mouse; 80% with Cows; 90% with Cats; 96% with Chimpanzees and Bonobos.
The genes we share with yeast — or cat or chimpanzee — are among the most obvious indicators of our emergence from a common base. Do we have a common heritage as well – we cannot say with certainty. But, what we can say with a very high degree of confidence is that all life form on Earth, from unicellular bacteria to human, emerged from the same earthly concoction – mud, bubbling water, heat, and a mix of some other planetary elements.

It is, of course, difficult to visualize an elegant life form like human having the same origin as a lowly insect. But, it is also difficult to argue with the facts that are pointing to our humble origin.

The undeniable similarities at the basic cellular level, and the commonality of human DNA with the rest of the animal kingdom, suggest that our human form – this Earthling – has shared an evolutionary path with the other animal life forms on this earth.

A few billion years in the process, and here we are discussing our own origin – One has to wonder, if our chimpanzee cousins do indulge in similar discourse?

So closely related genetically, yet our behavior is so different, amazing!

We are, indeed, an amazing species. Our mutually conflicting behavior and completely opposing traits don’t fit the profile of a single species – no other species on earth has such a behavioral and characteristic divergence as we do.

All the other species have predictable behavior patterns specific to that species – We know what to expect from an alligator, or a hyena, or a lion, or a baboon, or a horse, or even from a chimpanzee – All of these animals follow their natural instincts associated with their respective species, and, hence, are predictable in their behavior. Human, on the other hand, is a contradiction in itself. Even though it shares the bulk of its DNA with the rest of the animal life form on earth, it defies the natural behavioral pattern that would and should have classified it as a distinct and unique species.

On the one flank of humanity, we observe the members of the Human species who with pleasure share their food and shelter with the needy fellow humans – Who are eager to help others – Who cherish the success and happiness of other human beings – They don’t even hesitate to sacrifice themselves to save the lives of others.

On the other spectrum, we see members of the same Human species who rob and steal the livelihood of their fellow humans. Burning in hate and envy, they cannot stand the thought of happiness and success of others. With glee they indulge in torturing, killing, and enslaving other human beings – and, they are very proud of their acts of genocidal killing and the destruction of other human beings.

These are two completely opposite character traits – These two characteristics have no common ground. Though, in physical form, shape and structure it is a single species – The Human. But, still it manages to defy the characteristics, nature, and traits of a single species!

How can it be a single species?

May it be that The Human is more than a mere Earthling? May it be that human is something more than just the physical form – an earthling – the epitome of the evolution, but still an animal in nature, combined with ‘something’ – a gracious, glorious, and intelligent being?

There certainly is a compelling case for the ‘two-in-one’ entity as is evident in the human behavioral characteristics that are a pole apart.

On the one side we observe:
The Glorious and The Gracious – The Epitome of Kindness, Generosity and Compassion – A flourishing fountain of Heavenly Beauty and pure Joy – A Statement of Marvel in itself. The Human – Loving and Caring – Compassionate, Gentle and Friendly – Pillar of Strength – Ready and eager to Help, Support and Protect – Ready to Share and Enjoy the Success of its fellow beings – Creative and Inventive – Superbly Intelligent – A Thinker and a Philosopher – The Seeker of Truth and Knowledge – Honest, Logical, Trustworthy, Reasonable and Understanding.

And, on the other side we have:
The Fratricidal Maniac and A Vicious Beast – The Embodiment of Ruthlessness and Ferociousness – A Cunning Predator – Purveyor of Death and Destruction – Thoughtless and Witless – Eternal Coward, Deceptive, and Vulgar- Jealous, Mean, Selfish, and Self-indulging. The Human – Unreasonable and Illogical – The Enemy of Truth and Honesty.

These two characteristics are utterly mutually exclusive, and their union in one single species should not have been occurring. But, here we have The Human – Breaking the norms.

The Human – A Dweller of the Two Extremes!

We seem to be dealing with a special case scenario where the norms and rules governing the evolutionary pathway don’t apply. There are no other species that possess two different sets of traits that are so blatantly opposite of each other – A proverbial Angel on one hand and a mythological Demon on the other hand. It seems that the Human species has walked through two completely different evolutionary paths that are at 180° angle with each other! And, somehow, following the curvature of the planet, these two strangers of the differing paths collided with each other at some point and fused together to form this contradictory life form – The Human!

It sure seems like that we are dealing with a Two-in-One entity – A union or fusion of two separate entities into a single functioning form – sometimes at odd and sometimes in harmony with each other – The dwellers of two extremes forced into a union. And, the result is what we call The Human – An amalgamation of The Glorious and The Earthling.

The Angelical nature and behavior of this unique being corroborate to the presence of a superbly intelligent and glorious entity – a sort of Life-Energy form originating from a world beyond the realm of this evolutionary universe – The Human. And, on the other hand, the witlessly ferocious and vulgar nature of the same entity points to the Earthly Animal form that emerged at the top of the evolutionary lineage – The Earthling.

The glorious and gracious nature of the Human points to its origin in a Non-Evolutionary World – A world where the survivalist instincts, needed to ride up the evolutionary ladder, don’t come into play.

The heavenly compassion, the originality of thoughts, the wisdom and the intelligence of This Glorious and Gracious being points to its origin in, what may very well be called, The Mother World. The Characteristics, The Qualities, and The Nature of that Being are in tune with the energy composition of that Mother World – A Being of a Superior Order.

It stands to reason that we are, in fact, a union and fusion of these two entities – The Earthling, and The Glorious one. When the Glorious one is in control, we are dealing with a Compassionate, Thoughtful, Reasonable, and Intelligent Being.

And, when the Earthling takes over, we are facing the FANGS!

We have gone through the entire “Origin” series. The thoughts, the wisdom, and the truth presented by you is stunning. Very scientific and logical – It is the truth beyond the religion.

This certainly satisfies the both sides; The Evolutionists and The Creationists. The physical form is the product of the Earthly evolution, and the “real human” (essence or soul), which is the “life” and “intelligence”, is the is he Heavenly creation. We are the “amalgamation” (as you presented it) of the TWO.

That explains many things that had been intriguing us for a long time. Over the Thanksgiving, I showed the article to our parents and family. It was a “shocker” the them. We were discussing about it for quite sometime.

Very interesting and very well argued. An eye opener.

A colleague referred me to this website. I am thankful to him.

A very interesting way to put the things in perspective – connecting the science with the religion. A physical form that is the ‘marvel’ of evolution, amalgamated with a spiritual form. Easy for us the medical professionals to digest.

I have discussed it with a few other medical doctors, they all found it very interesting. It is not a research work, but a very thought provoking essay that is well written. You certainly are very knowledgeable in a very broad range of subjects. That is amazing.

It was a pleasure to find this site. I will be (and I do) keeping a tab on your articles here.

A very interesting presentation. Meshing the the logic, philosophy, science, and religion together. With a purely logical perspective, makes perfect sense. Human “life energy” combined with the “evolutionary marvel” of the the “planetary world”.

I believe, both the evolutionists, and the creationists will be happy here.

I am doing my research work in Cell Biology and coming from a Christian background. As a christian, I believed in the ‘Creation’ of the human by God. But, as a scientist, I have come to recognize the ‘evolution’ of human as a fact. Still, there is a conflict between the logical side of our brains and the faith side of our brain.

I am so pleased to have stumbled upon this essay – Human is the amalgamation of two entities. One the ‘creation’ of God, the other evolutionary product of earth. Infused together by the God – that is what we are.

It is a superb work. I have read it twice. and have read your other articles in the series (“The Origin”) as well. It just fits. It satisfies the criteria of validity of all the three fields – science, logic and philosophy, and religion.

Superb!

But, sadly, the “Human” part is long dead, and so is Humanity. What is left is just the Earthling – The vicious killer. As you said, ” And, when the Earthling takes over, we are facing the FANGS!”

We are facing the FANGS, tearing apart the surviving humans. There is gore and blood all over the world. No place for the humans to hide in.

Sad to see my children growing up in this world.
