The Fabian Influence

So many things start out as good ideas, do some good and are often populated with well meaning people. But somewhere along the track they derail. Such is the case with the Fabian Society. Founded on January 4, 1884 as an offshoot of the Fellowship of the New Life, it grew to prominence while the Fellowship dissolved 15 years later.

Almost immediately the Fabian Society appealed to many socialist thinking contemporary people of the time, most notably, George Bernard Shaw. Appalled by the excesses of the 'greedy capitalists' or the robber barons of that era, they wrote and distributed pamphlets advocating social justice. The society lobbied for a fair wage and universal health care, the foundation of any socialist country. This was the beginning of the Welfare State as a counter measure to the corruption of the elite class over the working class. In their view the capitalists were committing two of Gandhi's 'Seven Social Sins', although it would be another 35-40 years before Gandhi uttered those words.

1.) Wealth without work and 2.) Commerce without morality.

The Fabians wanted to create a just society initially for the British workers, eventually for all working class people in every country. Their aim was to level the playing field and
guarantee a minimum standard of living for all. But, as so often happens, those who seize power from their predecessors become only a different kind of tyrant. Socialism demands nearly total state control over people's lives to guarantee that their socialist ideas are incorporated. In doing so, they also committed two of the Seven Social Sins. It could be no other way since they believed that the end justified the means.

1.)Science without humanity. and 2.) politics without principle.

Early on the Fabian Society advocated a scientifically planned society. They were in favor of eugenics and were influential in helping to pass the Half-Caste Act in Australia where children were forcibly taken from their parents for their 'protection' under the British colonialist's regime. After all, it was better for the children not to be raised by their aborigine parents. The state could do a far better job.

We're beginning to see the rise of that kind of radical thinking in this country as our educational system seeks to drive a wedge between parents and children and render parents somewhat obsolete. I look for home schooling to be outlawed before long, although it has proven to be far superior to public schools. And I've read of the Department of Human Services removing children from loving homes because their parents resisted being forced to allow their children to receive 49+ vaccinations by age five.

In the UK, the Fabian Society contributed significantly to the formation and clout of the Labour Party. In the US, they have just about taken over the Democratic Party. The Fabian Society will talk about the individual's rights and the power of the vote. But Annie Besant, a Fabian Society member and later president of Indian National Congress stated their true elitist beliefs. "The general idea is that each man should have power according to his knowledge and capacity. And the keynote is that of my Fairy State: From every man according to his capacity; to every man according to his needs. A democratic Socialism controlled by majority votes, guided by numbers, can never succeed; a truly aristocratic Socialism, controlled by duty (yours) guided by wisdom (ours) is the next step upwards in civilization."

Sounds a lot like UN Agenda 21 to me. An elite few making decisions for the rest of us. Lots of control, forced compliance-for your own good of course. Doesn't that make you feel all warm and fuzzy? The first Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew said in his memoirs, "My initial philosophy was strongly influenced by the Fabian Society. However, I later changed my views as I realized the Fabian ideal of socialism was impractical." Lee stated as recently as 1993, "The Fabian Society were going to create a just society for the British workers-the beginning of the welfare state, cheap council housing, free medicine and dental treatments, free spectacles, generous unemployment benefits. Of course, for students from the colonies, like Singapore and Malaya, it was a great alternative to communism. We did not see until the 1970's that that was the beginning of big problems contributing to the inevitable decline of the British economy."

The promoters of capitalism/laisse faire/free enterprise and the
progressive/socialistic/fascists are both wrong. There must be checks on free enterprise to keep those wealthy elite from exploiting the rest of us for profit. But those checks need to
be judiciously applied, stopping well short of discouraging productive growth. As I'm fond of reminding my anti-union friends, had the elite robber barons not been so greedy; had they been more willing to pay a fair wage for good work, to implement safety measures to protect what should have been a valuable asset to them - trained employees - unions would never have come about.

But the answer is not to enslave the working class 'for their own good' or to eliminate industry and growth. There is room for a happy medium that allows fair profit for innovative entrepreneurs, while ensuring that the working class receives a decent living wage and safe working conditions. That is a win/win situation for all.

For example, a man who invests in building a factory to manufacture a product should be able to make a profit out of giving employment to those who toil for him. But those who make the product that enable that person to make a profit should be able to enjoy some of that profit, at the very least, in the form of decent living wages and safe working conditions. Neither the greed of the business owners/stock holders nor the greed of big unions has to cancel out the other. I've seen companies and unions working quite well with each other and the workers and company benefited.

The Fabian Society was just the pendulum swinging far in the other direction from the greedy industrialists of the late 19th century. And the average citizen needs to understand that in embracing socialist Democratic ideas, he is simply trading one master for another, one tyrant for another. Continue to give your support to these ideas and you will find yourself living in a society where you will have no say over any aspect of your life.

When I saw the Democratic Socialist of America stage a coup in 1995 and put John Sweeney in as president of the AFofL-CIO, I knew what was happening. If you can control the labor movement, you can control the Democratic Party. Add to that the attempt to legalize 11 million illegal immigrants and you have created a huge voting block. If they win the day, the Republicans will be lucky to retain seats in Congress much less ever occupying the White House again. Unless, dare I say it, people begin to wake up and pay attention to what is happening around them.

But if you live long enough, you will begin to notice that when the people are angry at one party, the other party gets their boy in there the next time. Of course, once in power, they continue to do whatever it was that angered the people, so the following election will usually swing back to the other party. This gives the illusion of choice in politics and elections. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

Even though Obama has pandered to some of the richest men in America for support, the Democratic Party continues to say that the Republicans are for the rich and they, the Democrats, are the supporters of the poor. That is a Socialist lie. It's just that the Democratic Party has been the biggest supporters of the Welfare State. Think about it. The more people are dependent on the government for their food, housing and medical care to name just three, the more control the government has over them. That is the goal of the Fabian Society and we are very nearly at that end game now.

Hand out free cell phones before the elections and invite one and all to apply for welfare/food stamps and socialize medical care and you will have effectively taken over this country without firing a single shot. Pretty much in lockstep with the Communist Manifesto. Let's not forget that the ideas for Obamacare and Romneycare in Massachusetts came right out of the Boston Democratic Socialists of America's handbook. The Marxists are taking over the Democrats and running their party and the media fails to vet and expose this.

As for the RINO's in Washington, once again they have proven the truth behind my grandmother's saying, “Don't pay any attention to what they say, watch what they do.” Several of them ran this time promising to oppose Obama and his Obamacare and his push to legalize millions of illegal aliens. What did the Republicans do? Caved in on both issues. Does that tell you where they really stand? We would all do well to remember the words of one of our Founding Fathers.

"A government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have...The course of history shows that as a government grows liberty decreases." Thomas Jefferson
