I grew up as 1 of 7 children!! We had chores aplenty and rightly so... I think it's kind of wrong to give children an easy life without chores to do. They grow up thinking they get something for nothing...

PS My grandparents came from the Appalachian chain, too. When we visited we were up before dawn and out in the garden helping to harvest whatever was in season. The payoff was fantastic food and home made Peach or Strawberry ice cream in the evening. :-)

I recall my father and grandfather's stories of working on the family farm as young children before and after school. Making a point of my simple quick and easy chores were aa blessing. My own children had no chores to do.
