Default Legendary Croatian Warriors - History & Legends

You all must be asking yourself is this one of the threads about croatian - serbian fights, well it's not... It's about some things about croatian warriors/soldiers than even some of croatians today doesn't know.

Well let me start with Napoleon, who said, qoute: "Give me 100 000 croatian soldiers and I will conqure all world" and that says alot... There is around 4 500 000 croatians today in Croatia, and around 3 500 000 of them is outside Croatia, becouse of many historical reasons they left to U.S.A, Canada, Germany, Austria, Hungary, the majority of this croats outside croatia left during Yugoslavia becouse they were patriotic oriented and persecuted from communist party back than...

There is also big community of Croatians in Austrian-Hungarian border which are called "Gradiscan Croats", they went there in period when Croatia was part of Austro-Hungary, today they are integral part of that regions of Austria and Hungary and reminder of once common state of many nations in Austro-Hungary...

There is old testament in Germany about Croatians, carved words in stone of old German church, and words says: "God save us from plague, hunger, wars and croatian warriors"

Many of today croatians and europe, forgotten about reputation of croatian soldiers/warriors which were common knowledge once in western europe... For examble, in 18 and 19 century in Bavaria (Germany), Belgium and in Austria, parents would scare their children if they don't want to go in bed with sentences as: "be good and go to sleep or croatians will come for you"

And children would be scared and went to bed like someone mentioned devil himself... I am just writing this so you can get a point how common that fact about croatian warriors was back than...

Reason why croatian soldiers had that reputation was becouse when they conqure someone they were, hm... not best "humanitarian", if you undarstand what I want to say

One of the reasons for fear of Croats in ordinary population of middle and western europe, was battle where croatian cavalry served under austrian-hungary in 19 century, burned to the ground Belgium city Antwerpen... The situation with this battle is more interesting becouse of fact that millitary austrian experts back than who were in command of that croatian cavalry units, were puting strategy how to attack antwerpen, and while they did that, croatian cavalry already not just defeated Antwerpen, but burned it to the ground along with many people...

And many other similar battles from which legends were made about croatians in ordinary population of middle and parts of western europe...

Also in 17 century, term "Croat" was a name for elite unit of Habsburg Monarchy...

Also, Croatia was never conqured by ottomans, not just becouse of croatians I agree, many other austro-hungary soldiers fought on croatian border with Bosnia, but Croatians were majority in that fights against turks... Turks also had many stories/legends about croatian soldiers (becouse they never defeated croatian soldiers ), they called croatians: "cursed demons, killers with no heart, wild animals etc..." Becouse croatians would massacre captured turks in ways that you can't imagine here on this forum...

One of the croatian victories against turks, in defending croatia and austro-hungary, was battle in SISAK 1593, in croatian fortress there (near border with Bosnia), where 800 croatians hold fortress against 12 000 turks who could not defeat them, soon after another 5000 croatian soldiers came and turks ran away to their ottoman empire in Bosnia...

That battle is very important becouse with that attack turks declared war to Habsburg Monarchy and after turks were defeated there, that was turn over in wars against ottomans where ottomans realized that they cannot go further from Bosnia in conquring Europe...

For 1300 years Croatia was wall for all non-catholics from East, to this present days... and it will be like that always, Pope Leo X called Croatia the Antemurale Christianitatis in 1519, given that Croatian soldiers made significant contributions to the struggle against the Turks. The advancement of Ottoman Empire in Europe was stopped on Croatian soil, Antemurale Christianitatis means border and last land of Catholic Europe.

Here is my videos I've made for croatian warriors and our catholic religion and culture which was never conqured or defeated, hope you will like them... Today Croatia doesn't invest into military technology much, so we don't have best tanks, jets etc... but we have croatian soldiers, who as always, worth much more than technology in some war...
