'Absolute madness': Pundits react to Swedish teen's impassioned climate speech

Teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg delivered an emotionally charged speech on climate change at the United Nations on Monday, drawing wide-eyed responses from political pundits throughout the day.

"This speech by far-left activist Greta Thunberg is absolute madness," said political reporter Ryan Saavedra.

Thunberg, 16, declared in her speech that "people are dying," and appearing to be on the verge of tears while she slammed members of the U.N. for not doing enough. "You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words," she proclaimed to a crowd that included leaders from all over the world. "Entire ecosystems are collapsing, we are in the beginning of a mass extinction and all you can talk about is money and fairytales of eternal economic growth. How dare you!”

The speech quickly caught the attention of her supporters as well as detractors, who were concerned about the what they deemed the melodramatic nature of her speech. "Am I a bad person for thinking children shouldn’t be used as political props like Greta Thunberg?" tweeted Ian Miles Cheong of Human Events.
