(National Sentinel) Insurrection: A Democratic congressman from New York appears to have suggested to supporters at a campaign town hall-style event they should use their Second Amendment rights to arm themselves to opposed ‘unconstitutional actions’ by President Donald J. Trump.

As reported by the New York Post, one-term Rep. Tom Suozzi can be heard on video saying that Americans opposed to Trump might resort to the “Second Amendment.”

“It’s really a matter of putting public pressure on the president,” Suozzi said in a newly released video of the March 12 talk in Huntington. “This is where the Second Amendment comes in, quite frankly, because you know, what if the president was to ignore the courts? What would you do? What would we do?”

A listener then blurts out, “What’s the Second Amendment?”

The left-leaning Democrat says, “The Second Amendment is the right to bear arms.”

Just a few weeks ago Suozzi was calling for more gun control in the aftermath of the Parkland, Fla., school shooting.

When asked about the comment, Suozzi’s campaign said the congressman was not advocating for armed insurrection, while at the same time appearing to double down on his comments by forwarding a quote penned by founding father Thomas Jefferson calling for armed rebellion.

“What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms,” the quote said.

Republicans were outraged by the comment.

“This video is incredibly disturbing. It’s surreal to watch a sitting member of Congress suggest that his constituents should take up arms against the president of the United States,” said National Republican Campaign Committee spokesman Chris Martin, the Post reported.

Last year House Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana was shot and nearly killed in an ambush by a Left-wing supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential bid. And supporters of Trump have regularly suffered attacks by Alt-Left Antifa members.

Suozzi is running for his second term after being elected in 2016. He will face GOP challenger Dan Debono, a former US Navy SEAL, in the general election, the Post noted.
