Thoughts of Well-Wishes & Prayers to Hobie - I fell down hard like this about a yr. ago.

Our thoughts of well-wishes and prayers are with Hobie and please get well soon. So sorry to learn of this unfortunate accident which happened right during a festive season, a time associated with joy.

These slips and falls can happen so unexpectedly in icy weather. A year or so ago I fell pretty hard on a piece of plywood in my yard. I had slipped and slid out to the mailbox and couldn't believe how slick it was. I was really banged up for awhile, but apparently did not break anything. I try to be very careful to avoid such accidents, but when it is so slick it can still happen.

Get well soon, Hobie, and wishing you a speedy recovery and the happiest of New Years!

: Just to let those that work with & care about him know.

: Late Sunday night he fell taking a large garbage can down to
: the street on a slick spot on the driveway. He could not
: get up without a lot of pain on his right side.

: It was necessary to call EMS with a 911 call. EMS advised it
: to be wise to take him to the Emergency Room for
: evaluation.

: At 2am they advised he was in a room in the process of being
: evaluated. I will advise with updates when available.

: Xray shows broken left radius (wrist), and a
: break in his right hip (not pelvis) slightly below
: & just above leg.

: They are talking about two surgeries by Orthopedic
: Surgeon. They are moving him tonight to a Medical Center
: specializing in Orthopedic Surgery tonight.

: At this time not sure how serious & long he will
: be out of commission without additional updates.

: I will try to keep everyone updated as available.

: Alert: Hobie Update 10:30am

: They decided not to do surgery on his
: left wrist...just put cast...est. month to heal.

: They are operating on his right hip.
: Depending on which surgeon...either external
: stabilization apparatus, or put a rod down his leg.

: At this time shortly after coming out of
: operation their rehab people will take over
: and whisk him away.

: No idea on rehab time frame.

: Probably no additional info until late
: today or sometime tomorrow.
