For more information on the following aspects of Mr. Skolnick's commentary and reporting, see the website on the Titles of Nobility Amendment of 1810, ratified in 1819 and a part of the Constitution until it was suppressed by James Buchanan and his co-conspirators (pro-slavery lawyers and judges), beginning in the late 1840s. One of Mr. Buchanan's predecessors as the Secretary of State was killed when the cannons on the new American warship -- 'the Princeton' -- exploded, on its maiden voyage in 1844. He went from being a second tier Senator from Pennsylvania to Secretary of State, the official caretaker of all documents relating to the Constitution, as designated by federal law in 1818 and as amended in 1820. After serving in that position he was sent to Great Britain as Ambassador. Then when he returned, he prepared himself to campaign for the presidency, which he won in 1856, with the help of pro-slavery politicians and lawyers from Louisiana, specifically, Judah P. Benjamin and the Brothers Slidell (Tom and John). Political murder, even the mass murder of American citizens by operatives of the government who are bought by foreign powers, is not a new phenomenon.

Abolitionists of that day and time called the 1856 election thoroughly crooked, with the Democrats and the Peace party spending considerable money to buy votes in Connecticut, Illinois and the new state of California.
