RIGHT ON TIME FOR THE LEGAL "SHOWDOWN" REG.NEW BRITISH TERROR-LAWS...
For the British Government's PLANS of implementing a new (old) set of "anti-terror laws" the next weeks will be crucical. The ruling of the high court in London on the deportation of an unnamed terror suspect is expected.
It will be also a lithmus test for the - diplomatically expressed - "no torture, no ill treatment" - assurances that the British government did negotiate with Algeria - where this suspect is from as well as a test of the government's use of "memorandums of understanding" when the high court will rule on the deportation of cleric Abu Qatada (allegedly in some connection with "Al-Queada") back to Jordan.
And there are about 30 more foreign terror suspects facing their possible deportation...
So this new, prevented attempt of "mass murder" might have come at the right time for Mr.Blair! Only a year ago he said when announcing his 12-point anti-terror action plan that "if legal obstacles arise we will legislate further", including amending the Human Rights Act.
Tony Blair also said that he would "consider introducing a law so - that those facing deportation could only appeal the decision in the courts after leaving the country"...
