It was 10:47AM that the Mayor of Cincinnati offically signed the orders putting Cincinnati under a state of emergency, with a 8PM-6AM curfew. It is being reported by local media that President Bush is taking a keen interest and has talked with A.G. Ashcroft about the happenings here in Cincinnati, and for the Justice Department to get involved.
In a interview done with Gov. Taft (with local Media)the Ohio National Guard has been put on alert for possible deployment here to Cincinnati.
Gov. Taft has also dispatched a special unit from the Ohio Highway Patrol, who are specialized in crowd control and riot situations to assist the Cincinnati Police Division in dealing with the Riots. The City of Norwood has also gone along with Cincinnati's State of Emergency and curfew. The City of Norwood is almost compeletly surrounded by the City of Cincinnati.
Other Police agencies in the area have also offered to send assistance. Cincinnati Police Officers (approx. 1000 strong) have been working 12+/- hour shifts since the start and are getting physically and mentally tired (prime conditions for a mistake to be made). THEY NEED A REST!!!
As a person who has known or been acquainted with 8 out of the last 11 Cincinnati Police Officers to be killed I pray for their safety and hope others do the same.
