E, after watching several of the press conferences on
CNN, the US position has done a complete 180. While
you are correct that no one actually said, " We are Sorry",
they are now calling this a tragic accident. I believe
that the exact statement was "We regret the tragic
accident that has occurred, and for the loss of the
Chinese Pilot and Plane".
This statement does not reflect what happened, as far
as I know. Reports from Taiwan state that the Chinese
jets threatened to fire on the US Aircraft, then

turned into it, in International Airspace,
causing it to make the emergency landing.
Even now, they are stripping the plane, and hold the
Crew hostage. The statements coming out of Washington
Should be Outrage! They seem very conciliatory now.
I was just wondering why the change?

: do so. What we did say was that we felt badly about the
: loss of the life of their pilot, a humanitarian gesture at
: best. But that we have not in anyway apologized for the
: incident itself and have no intention along those lines.
