VOLCANO UPDATE BY QUICKENING NEWS
MEXICO VOLCANO: POPOCATEPETL
As of 1100 (1700 GMT), the 2nd of April CENAPRED has
reported that Popocatepetl volcano presented/displayed an
increase of activity with respect to that reported
yesterday. 22 exhalations of low intensity were registered
accompanied by steam emissions by water and gas. Also 7
hours of harmonic tremor of low amplitude between the 2300
were registered hrs. of yesterday and the 0800 hrs. of
today.
Access to the volcano stays restricted and the Traffic
light of Volcanic
Alert remains in YELLOW Phase 3. The security remains at a
radius of 12 km. The color of the volcanic alarm light
remains on ORANGE.

INDIAN OCEAN VOLCANO: PITON DE LA FOURNAISE
As of the 2nd of April, the eruption is still continuing on
the 31 March in morning. Now, the main lava flow issuing
from the cone go down inside lava tube. The eruption is
visible but is partially hidden. Enclos Caldera will be
open to the public very soon.
The Current Color Code for Piton de al Fournaise is ORANGE .

NEW ZEALAND VOLCANO: WHITE IS.
As of the 30th of March, the Institute of Geological &
Nuclear Sciences has reported that White Island continues
to produce a large plume of steam and gas, but no eruptive
activity has occurred at White Island volcano this week.
The volcano remains at Alert Level 1 (signs of volcanic
unrest).
The White Is. volcano is currently at Alert Level 1.

PHILIPPINES VOLCANO: MAYON
As of the 2nd of April, the Philippines Volcanology Society
has
reported that with respect to seismicity, there has been 3
high
frequency volcanic earthquakes with relative amplitudes of
17.0mm and 2 low frequency volcanic earthquakes with
maximum deflection were recorded. The volcano continues to
be inflated but present trend shows insignificant change.
The crater was visible but no glow was observed and the
steaming activity remains moderate. Sudden phreatic
explosions yielding life-threatening volcanic flows and
ballistic ejecta may occur unannounced.
The Mayon volcano is currently at Alert Level 3.

WEST INDIES VOLCANO: SOUFRIERE HILLS
As of the 31st of March, the Monserrat Volcano Observatory
has
reported that activity at the Soufriere Hills Volcano
remains extremely low.
The seismograph network recorded 33 rockfall signals, 1
long period, 2 long period rockfalls, 5 hybrids and 3
volcano tectonic earthquakes. All the
rockfall events were small. There has been a very small
amount of growth in the south of the dome.
Although the activity has been low this week, the situation
can change quite
suddenly, with dangerous activity developing very quickly.
Due to the dry
conditions there is a lot of ash blowing from the old
deposits on the flanks
of the volcano and the Belham Valley. Ash masks should be
worn in ashy
conditions. In the event of heavy rain, the Belham Valley
should be avoided
during and after the rainfall due to the possibility of
mudflow activity.
The Soufriere Hills volcano is currently at the YELLOW
alert level.

KAMCHATKA (RUSSIA) VOLCANO: SHEVELUCH
On the 31st of March, the Kamchatkan Volcanic Eruptions
Response Team
reported that seismicity was mainly at background levels.
On March
24, at 05:55 KST, a 2-minute-long shallow earthquake swarm
was registered. Following it, weak spasmodic volcanic
tremor was registered during ~10 min. Possibly this burst
of activity corresponded to weak ash-gas explosions to a
height of ~2000 m above the crater. On March 27, a powerful
gas and steam plume rose 800 m above the volcano. On other
days, the volcano was obscured by clouds.
The color of the volcanic alarm light remains on YELLOW.
---------------
ECUADOR VOLCANO: TUNGURAHUA
As of the 2nd of April, the Instituto Geofisico has
reported that seismicity and emissions have entered a total
of 30 events of long period. The Yellow alert for the city
of Baņos follows; in the zone of risk it governs the orange.
In the hours in the morning a steam column of about 100 m
of height could be appreciated on the crater of the
volcano. The high number of events of long period can
reflect the pressurization of the system, that potentially
could generate important emissions and/or explosions.
The official color of the volcanic alarm light remains on
YELLOW.

HAWAII VOLCANO: KILAUREA
As of the 2nd of April, it has been reported to SWVRC
direct from the
Hawaiian Volcano Observatory , that two areas of
incandescence are
visible on Pulama pali this morning at 0456, on the eastern
branch of the
active flow. Most of the lava on the pali is now encased in
tubes and is not
flowing on the surface.
On the coastal flat, distinct glow hangs over the front of
the eastern
branch slightly seaward but still 400-450 m inland from the
coast. This area has been active for some time as the
pahoehoe buds, inflates, and moves ever closer to the
water. Even brighter glow comes from the front of the west
branch, which was active when observed closely on Friday.
The crater of Pu`u `O`o is dark this morning, obscured by
fume or clouds.
The Current Color Code for Kilauea is ORANGE .
