Every Senator in the U.S. Senate would vote to approve Condi Rice as a Supreme Court Justice for all of the most obvious reasons:
1. The Republican men do not want to have her as an opponent in the stupidly-run Republican primary elections coming in 2008 ( maybe ).
2. The Republican women in the Senate really don't care what Rice thinks about 'abortion' or gay marriage or any of those issues, they'd be pleased as punch to step up and vote for a smart and well-dressed American of African Origin.
3. The Democratic pretenders and male wanna-be-somebodies in the Senate DO NOT want Rice as an opponent in the 2008 charades.
4. The Democratic women in the Senate don't give a darn about the issues either, except that if Condi Rice is, indeed, a gay American they win with that one. And if she is not, she's still a cultured woman of education and political savvy and that means they have one of their own CLASS in the catbird's seat.
5. The issue is CLASS and CONTROL and if W. the Lessor can think without Rove's approval, this would be the tack for him to take and take right away.
The wild card would be -- however -- a pending indictment of Rice if indeed she helped Hadley, Stephen, to out Valerie Plame. It doesn't matter whether Plame was a NOC at the hour she was outted, or a lounge lizard or an MP3 downloading pirate loafing on the government dime. She was CIA and she got outted and the fat is in the fire over that one.
Just a few thoughts.
P.S. The "unbelievable" sweep of the Houston Astronauts by the Chicago White Stockings was wholly orchestrated and scripted down to the last Bolshoi Ballet style movements. The "Series" had to end at four or five games so as not to obscure the MSM reporting on the indictments, which were supposed to be THE NEWS on this very day. It seems very clear that Faction Two has prepared the ground very carefully and that their goal is to rout and corral as many of the Neo-Conservative swindlers as can be had in a single Grand Jury proceeding.
It may be that the plan has been altered by the entrance into the equation of McNulty's investigation into the AIPAC espionage ring and that brings the whole situation much closer to Hadley, Feith, Ledeen and Wolfowitz than it has ever done before.
P.P.S. I don't believe more than 10 % of what Heneghan and Webb are selling to my dear friend Skolnick. He's so obsessed with the "injustices" done to Albert S. Gore he cannot be unbiased.
P.P.P.S. I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby was the lawyer who connived to get Bill Clinton to pardon Marc Rich even though Rich had fled the country before ever being tried and convicted of any crime. It was an enormous swindle and it was pulled off with money from Marc's winsome ex-wife, Denise, and Libby's scamming.
That puts Cheneyman and Cheneyman's factotum in the same mixture with the Russian Mafia and the international swindler, Rich.
