Every now and then an agent needs to remind us this is not a chat room, a rant rostrum or a debating hall. People who indulge in those pursuits here generally disappear. Nobody knows what happens to them--if it's just blacklisting, or that they sense the consensus of agents is against them and withdraw, or they get bored and leave, or they realize their covert mission to disrupt and discredit this site is doomed, or they fall victim to a black op perpetrated by one of Rayelan's old pals in the biz. It's a mystery how, but they do disappear.

Yes, this site has a remarkable "self-cleansing" property, and that's one reason why RMN remains one of the most vital sites on the internet. And I'm sure we all want to keep it that way, don't we?

I agree with every point Noah made. And let me add a suggestion or two, which Rayelan has urged on us in the past.

Number one, when posting a response, delete the article you're responding to. You may safely assume everyone who reads your response has read the original--usually within the last few minutes. So the info you're responding to is still fresh in their minds. This not only saves time but critical web space.

If you highlight the first line of the original, hold the SHIFT keyy down and scroll to highlight the last line, then hit BACK SPACE or DELETE,the original vanishes from your response.

Number two, we all want to be read by the largest audience. I know I do; my ego requires it. So instead of posting under Noah's "Stop mop fighting in the hall" I made a separate post, and came up with a catchy new headline. If this post doesn't net me 400 reads by 10 pm est tonight, I shall crush my keyboard with a hammer.

"NUDE BRITNEY SPEARS IN SATANIC RITE?" is far more stimulating a headline than "Re: Stop mop fighting in the hall" ...unless you have a thing for mops but abhor skinny women. So be original.

And no, you may not use "NUDE BRITNEY SPEARS IN SATANIC RITE?" It's mine, suckah. And keep your hands off of Jennifer Lopez, 'cause I got an eyegrabber for her I'll use, next time I want everyone's attention.
