Now that Summer has finally arrived here in Europe, friends and I were able to carefully observe the sky both at day- and night times. The full moon trajectory of last night - compared to its trajectory during the two previous nights - was seemingly thousands of miles but at least about 60 degrees South of its "usual" line of journey.
The Sunset is North-NorthWest in Switzerland at about 9:15pm, and sun rise is well before 5am, making this here a 17-18 hours long day light at the end of May, and truly I cannot recall having ever noticed this. Tonight - as in now while typing and looking west - i observe a literal and giant circle of rainbow spanning almost all around the sun, traveling with the sun in the middle, reflecting rainbow light colors into the lake.
The whole atmosphere is one of enormous pastel fractals allover sky and lake. It is rather fantastic looking and I cannot complain, apart from one gets the feeling that planet earth is sort of rocking and rolling through space - making one feel at times a little bit like sea sick. And best of all, the granite rocks of the Cis-Alpine massive literally vibrate when you touch them.
Now granted not many people touch rocks and spend hours watching, observing and annotating the sky, but clearly things are not quite "as usual". Not that this bothers me in the slightest, because who are we earthlings to know how it "should" be, since all and everything is as it should be at all times, but indeed the show is spectacular. I am sure many others around the world have noticed many similar or other such phenomena.
My precise planetary software data graphs just do NOT match what I observe at this time and at this longitude/latitude. What does it mean? dunno ;-)
