Britain and America have once again bombed Iraq; ostensibly to thwart a weapons build up by Saddam Hussien with threats of more bombings to follow. Yet according to a report by Scott Ritter, former head of the United Nations Special Commission to Iraq, whose task was to find and destroy advanced Iraqi weapons in 1999: "Iraq is all bluster with nothing to back it up, with no skills in the intricacies of modern combat or air power."

He concluded that the "bulk of armaments are a relic from the fifties."

So much for the Iraqi weapons build up.

Moreover Saddam Hussein himself was originally placed in power via a CIA sponsored coup in the late sixties. Thereafter he was armed and equipped by the Western allies during his war with Iran.

And then when the Allied powers were in a position to remove Hussein, during Operation Desert Storm, they didn't. Instead Western powers let him remain in control; indeed, according to Sherman Skolnick, Saddam Hussein is in effective a business associate of the Bush family.
