Here is the text of their emails. The Extremely Well Informed Friend's answer is first, followed by my Friend's comments.
"Christmas Bells Are Ringing"*
The Pope & Terri, are both victims of laws and traditions of men,
(Matthew 15:9) Roman Catholicism incorporates truth, of course, but also
typifies old world standards of propriety and governance which have
become horrifically outmoded. The large quakes following the
Roman/Catholic holidays of Saturnalia/Christmas and Ishtar/Easter among
other things signal that entire paradigms involving religion, morality,
and justice are under sustained assault.
I can't say more in this arrangement. Think about it.. of course I can't! ; )

He's thinking higher and more broadly, ongoing, than you
and I tend to do, as world events for which you and I are not 'the
driver' of them catch our attention and make us wonder how they fit
into a larger picture.
You and I (and all of RMN) tend generally to think in political terms,
in "world of human affairs" terms, even given what we know is true in
the larger sense. We're trying to piece it together from 'underneath'
it, while my friend's perspective is "from the driver's seat" and
'above' those events.
Key phrases: "standards of propriety and governance which have become
horrifically outmoded".
And,
"entire paradigms involving religion, morality, and justice are under sustained assault".
That ties in with previous comments, about the "prison mentality" being the target of
hurricanes that hit Florida.
I hear him to be saying this: That the world of human affairs is "too tightly wrapped" to allow room for the currents of spirit to operate appropriately; that there's too much "dead / not-living structure" to it, with its reliance on 'legal precedents', etc., and massive volumes of codification of laws, regulations, and rules; that it's comprised of a now-abominable attempt to guide things by "the letter of the law" rather than the spirit of it, to "nail down", "crucify" what's right instead of yielding to the flow of the River of Life.
Said in different terms, it's the end result of a prolonged attempt on the part of human beings to be "as God" versus a pattern of "aligning with God" -- and the time in which it could be accommodated by Life to a certain degree, has ended. It has to be let go, now, if human beings are to move forward.
I'm intrigued that my friend made the connection between the Christmas carole in my dream, and the ringing of the Vatican bells. :-) Interesting to note that the carole makes me feel quite happy. I have nothing against the Pope, and my general impression of him is that he's done a good job and is likely a rather fine man. Yet, the happiness I feel from that carole suggests his passing would mark "the end of a long era" and might mark "the beginning of something new and potentially wonderful". It's likely to involve the setting aside, the letting go of, certain traditions and ways of doing things, finding them now "too heavy" to carry forward.
Some chaos? Perhaps -- it would seem scary to some, perhaps to quite many, if the things they've been holding to begin to turn insubstantial in their grasp. But that may be what's coming. Those of us who have to some degree already learned to 'swim' will need to consistently send forth the message,
