John Denver (Henry John Deutchendorf, Jr.) was born in Roswell in
1943, according to a story published in the Houston Chronicle the day
after his death (I have the clipping at my office). His father was an
Air Force officer, who on Jan. 13, 1961 broke flying records for NASA.
The following site shows John "Denver" Deutschendorf's father's role in
the space program. This site can be found at:
http://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/pao/History/Timeline/1961-1.html
>>January 3: NASA's Space Task Group, charged with carrying out Project
Mercury and other manned space flight programs, officially became a
separate NASA field element.
>>January 5: Turbofan-powered B-52H Boeing bomber, with two prototype
Douglas Skybolt air-launched 1,000-mile-range ballistic missiles under
each wing, was rolled out of the factory at Wichita, Kans.
>>January 7: USAF Blue Scout I reached near 1,000-mile altitude with
90-pound data capsule from Atlantic Missile Range.
>>January 10: President-elect Kennedy received report of special
nine-man committee on the national space program. Chairman of the
committee was Dr. Jerome B. Wiesner of MIT.
>>---: A Polaris missile of the advanced A-2 design was fired from Cape
Canaveral 1,600 miles down the Atlantic Missile Range. It was the third
success in as many firings for the new Polaris designed to operate at a
range over 1,700 miles.
>>January 11: President-elect Kennedy announced that Jerome B. Wiesner
of MIT would be special assistant to the President for science and
technology.
>>January 12: President Eisenhower in his state of the Union address to
Congress reviewed U.S. progress in space exploration, stating, "These
achievements unquestionably make us pre-eminent in space exploration
for the betterment of mankind."
>>---: Joint DOD-NASA release outlined actions of the Aeronautics and
Astronautics Coordinating Board (AACB) since its creation in September
1960.
>>---: First Italian launching of scientific sounding rocket in
cooperative program with United States, a Nike-Cajun launched from a
range in Sardinia to a height of over 100 miles, and released a cloud
of sodium vapor visible for many miles.
>>January 13: Convair B-58 Hustler, jet bomber powered by four GE J-79
engines, broke six world speed records, Maj. H. J. Deutschendorf, U.S.
Air Force, as pilot. On first closed-course run, the Hustler averaged
1,200.194 miles per hour, and it averaged 1,061.808 miles per hour on
both runs carrying a payload of 4,408 pounds and a crew of three.<<
At the same time the Major was breaking flying records for NASA in
1961, "former" Nazi Wernher von Braun was in charge of the space
program at NASA's Redstone Arsenal. But what was happening in Roswell
in 1943? Deutchendorf was living there with his family, or John would
not have been born there?
I have a book called Wernher von Braun by Erik Bergaust, published by
National Space Institute in 1976. Bergaust is a prolific writer about
military rockets and space travel. Let's pick up with chapter 12 of
the von Braun bio:
>>PRISONER OF PEACE
Indeed, the surrender in Bavaria went according to von Braun's hopes
and plans. The happy outcome of it was to a great extent due to the
efforts of a gallant and popular American officer, the late Major
General Holger N. Toftoy. During the late fifties he was the
Commanding General at Aberdeen Proving Ground (U.S. Army Ordnance) in
Maryland. He played an immensely important role in the United States
rocket development program-and in von Braun's life. To the citizens of
Huntsville, Alabama, he became a hero.
During the war, Toftoy was Chief of the Ordnance Technical Intelligence
Team
In 1974 von Braun became president of the National Space Institute, and
John Denver joined the Board of Governors in 1975. After Denver's
death, a eulogy appeared at http://www.ccnet.com/~suntzu75/pirn9775.htm
which included the following:
>>John Denver was a member of the World Federalist Association (WFA), a
US based organization that advocates world governance. World federalism
and global government are popular concepts among Denver's performing
artist colleagues, including actor Lloyd Bridges, actress Jean
Stapleton, and television journalist Walter Cronkhite [sic]. The WFA is
part of the World Federalist Movement which enjoys consultative status
with the United Nations as a nongovernmental organization (NGO). Actor
Peter Ustinov is President of World Federalist Movement.
>>Wealthy and influential supporters of world government back programs
combatting population growth and hunger, burning of rain forests, and
pollution, and they advocate for birth control, multilateral (U.N.)
peacekeeping forces, disarmament and global control of small arms.
>>Denver was also active in many environmental causes and became
involved in space exploration and he participated in simulated space
flight training using NASA developed equipment and systems.
>>According to a variety of independent sources, Denver was on the
boards of directors or advisory boards of; Presidential Commission on
World and Domestic Hunger (President Carter's Administration), The
Cousteau Society, National Space Institute, World Federalists
Association, Friends of the Earth, est, The Kushi Foundation,
Human/Dolphin Foundation, Music Associates of Aspen, Aspen Center for
Environmental Studies, The Challenger Center and Plant-It 2000.<<
The Aspen Institute was founded in the mid-70s by Robert O. Anderson of
AtlanticRichfield and of the Bilderberger group as "a major financial
conduit for creation of the establishment's new anti-nuclear agenda..."
(F. William Engdahl, A Century of War: Anglo-American Oil Politics and
the New World Order, published in Germany 1992). Most of the founding
trustees were important in international oil circles, such as John
McCloy, Maurice Strong and George C. McGhee.
Possibly John Denver, who recorded an album called "One World"
comprised of songs written in 1985-86, one of which was dedicated to
the astronauts killed in the Challenger, may have become disenchanted
with the Aspen philosophy prior to his death. An October 18, 1997
article by Mary Eshbaugh Hayes at http://www.pathfinder.com states:
>>But while the singer-songwriter loved Aspen and the surrounding
areas, the loyalty was not always returned, his brother, Ron
Deutschendorf, told the mourners.
>>``John loved Aspen and always felt this was his home. I didn't always
agree with that. It didn't treat him right the last couple of years,''
Deutschendorf said.
>>Denver was arrested twice in the 1990s for drunken driving. His trial
in Aspen in July ended in a hung jury, and he was scheduled to be
retried in January.<<
John McCloy referred to above was attorney for Chase Manhattan Bank for
years, as well as attorney for Gulf Oil and other American-based seven
sisters oil companies. He was also on the Warren Commission. George
McGhee was the son-in-law of eminent geologist Everett DeGolyer of
Dallas and Houston, who was a director of Dresser Industries at the
time of his death. He was replaced by his partner, Lewis MacNaughton
of Dallas, who was associated with some of the White Russians who
sought out Lee Harvey Oswald after he returned from the Soviet Union
with Marina.
McGhee was also one of the founders of the Bilderbergers, Ambassador to
Germany in the 1950s, as well as a Cabinet member of JFK's, at LBJ's
insistence.
Why was John Denver associated with these people as far back as 1975?
