With all the recent discussion about possible pole shifts, I'd like to call attention to what I think is one of the better books on the subject. It takes the form of a novel caled "The HAB Theory". It's about a man (whose initials are H.A.B.) who develops a scientific theory that predicts and explains pole shifts and their effects, and the extremes he goes to to warn the world about the pole shift that his theory predicts is imminent.

Much of the book is devoted to explaining the theory itself, which the novel's author did not invent. In fact, the theory presented in the book by the fictional H.A.B. (I forget what the fictional character's initials stand for) was developed by a real scientist whose initials, not coincidentally, were also H.A.B. - Hugh Auchincloss Brown, to be specific.

Now the name "Hugh Auchincloss" rang a bell to me, as I expect it will with many readers here. It is the name of the man who became the second husband of Jacqueline Kennedy's mother. The Auchincloss family is said to be close to the Hapsburgs, and the Hapsburgs, as someone else noted here recently, are thought to possess some "inside" knowledge regarding earth changes such as pole shifts. While I have no direct evidence, I assume that Hugh Auchincloss Brown was somehow related to this Auchincloss family, and therefore suspect that he may have at least been pointed in the right direction by someone when he was developing his theories.

The original theory was published some time around 1950. A few years later a professor named Charles H. Hapgood read the theory and published his own somewhat revised version of it. And Hapgood's theory was praised by no less a scientist than Albert Einstein, then near the end of his life. It is currently available in a book called "The Path of the Pole", avaiable from Amazon, as is a later work of Hapgood's, "Maps of the Ancient Sea Kings".
