the 46 year old son of fiat carmaker boss giovanni agnelli, edoardo agnelli, was today found dead, in a river near turin - italy. he apparently jumped from a nearby bridge which is known as the bridge of the desperates.

edoardo agnelli had never a function in the companies of his father. he devoted his time the literature and oriental religions. he was believed to have drug problems.

three years ago, the nephew of giovanni agnelli, giovanino agngelli died of a rare cancer. he was supposed to take over the control of the companies. (ca. 50 billion usd turnover)

the carmaker fiat, now in coopreartion with general motors, celebrated this year its 100 aniversary. with the death of the two young agnellis, the family has no male with the name to take over the companies.

the family agnelli is one of the richest families in the world, the richest and most influential in italy, with participations worldwide in all kind of business. the family is very modest and does not like any kind of publicity. the family is however well known for incountable substantinal donations for social work, science and art sponsoring be it directly or trough their controlled companies.
