As Danny noted, the Electoral College casts its ballots after the general election validates the winner-take-all strategy that has been foisted upon the States at large by the minions of the Rockefeller clan over the last eighty to one hundred years.

If Ralph Nader were to capture Oregon or New Mexico, and if neither Bush nor Gore obtained an Electoral College majority, the decision would then fall upon the House of Representatives, where the State delegations would vote "as bodies," with California having the same vote as Delaware or North Dakota.

In this manner Thomas Jefferson was elected. There was a deadlock in the House, with Maryland's vote being "null" by reason of a tie between the pro-Jefferson faction and those opposed to him there. Some late-day lobbying and a letter written by Mr. Jefferson to a key Congressman there persuaded him to abstain from voting in the next poll of the delegations.

The poll of Maryland's congressional members then revealed a 4 to 3 majority of the delegation of Congressmen for Jefferson, and Maryland's single vote in the House awarded the Presidency to him.

The House will assemble on January 6th of next year to swear in its new members and to conduct its business: if the Electoral College is tied, or if Nader swipes one State from Gore and Buchanan swipes one State from Bush and there is no majority, then that is how the new President will be determined. You had better believe that the good people at MSNBC and Fox News are praying for that. Just imagine -- twenty-four hours a day to talk about this obscure provision of the Constitution -- and then the non-stop politicking of the newly-elected House members will come forward. Oh what a delicious irony that would be!

The Electoral College was supposed to be a bulwark against tyranny ... but it has been marginalized by "winner take all" elections. Such a thing was unimaginable to our founders.

They never thought we would willingly throw away what they struggled so very hard to obtain, mold, craft, and give to us.
