From Rayelan --
Here is the reply I just received from Acme Cities -- I guess they didn't like the advertizing banners on rumormillnews.com
We have to pick our fights, and this one doesn't appear to be about censorship -- so I am dropping it.

I'm not sure I understand the relationship. You're not the member who's account was terminated? If so, this is not an issue I should be discussing with you.

The reason why your site was deleted is because it featured commercial content. If your site was a mirror of http://www.rumormillnews.com/, then the specific violations would be the 'paid for' advertising banners that appear. What content we allow and don't allow on AcmeCity is specified in our Terms of Service, specifically under 'Submissions, Postings and E-mails' :
http://www.acmecity.com/explore/area/acmecity/terms.html
>I was not given any notice that my site was in violation. Had I been, I would have removed whatever it >was that was in violation of your rules.
Our terms of service state:
"AcmeCity, reserves the right to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, all or any part of this Site and/or any software, facilities and services on this Site, with or without notice, and/or to establish general guidelines and limitations on their use. "
I hope this clarifies the situation.
Many thanks,
Lawrence

Subject: MY SITE IS IN JAIL
While I am not the one who created the site, it was done with my permission by a friend.
I would like to know the specifics counts on which this site has violated your rules.
In the meantime, I will be posting your "JAIL" notice on my webpage
http://www.rumormillnews.com
in order for my readers to see what AcmeCities does to people who use their webpages.
I was not given any notice that my site was in violation. Had I been, I would have removed whatever it was that was in violation of your rules.
The site was being used as a mirror site. It had not been updated in almost a year.
I would like to know the specific reasons it has been deactivated.
I have included the original correspondence from support@acmecity.

: The Rumor Mill News mirror site has been JAILED -- I do not
: know why. I am currently in communication with Acme Cities.
: As I receive information from them, I will post it to this
: Forum. If anyone would like to write Acme Cities and find
: out why the site was pulled, without any notification,
: please feel free to do so. I have included all the
: information you need by posting the notification they sent.
: There were a few manuscripts and tapes on the site. I did not
: know these violated any policy. If I had known, they would
: have been removed. However, I was never given any warning.
: The site was mainly for news articles.
: Are we seeing a violation of free speech? Is this a harbinger
: of things to come on the Internet? In a few short months
: will only politically correct sites be allowed?
