A Day on Our Calendar

I watch dates that are important to others. Not that I feel
dates are particularly prophetic, but that others do, and that
they thus become self-fulfilling.

One such date that I have mentioned to you is that of August
10th. A date which will occur this week. Now there comes the
following news item.

The Mufti of Jerusalem said, "that the responsibilty will be Israel's for any changes at the Temple Mount. Today's discussion
by the Chief Rabbinate Council, the march of the right-wing

Women in Green movement - who will be joined by Jerusalem Mayor
Ehud Olmert - on the fast day of the Ninth of Av (this Thursday)
and the intention of the Temple Mount Loyalists to pray at the
site, are generating concern among senior officials of the
Palestinian Authority that violence could erupt in Jerusalem
because of what they regard as the provocations of extremist
Jews."

Because of the significance of this date in Jewish history, it
has been taken as the date to make this demonstration at the
Temple Mount. You can see the possible consequences.

Some event, not necessarily this one, will be the match, that
will lead to the ultimate conflagration.

As you know, my personal favorite, are those currently taking
place in Iran. Last week fights broke out on the floor of the
Legislature, over the actions of the Leading Religious Cleric
in subduing all the opposition newspapers.

There are others who favor the events in Syria, but whatever
one's favorite events it is a tinder dry forest and the
potential kindling points are many.

While oil and stock market prices remain stable, some observers,
myself included, conclude that this is more evidence of
"control" of those markets rather than true inherent strengths.

I can't help note the irrationality of statements that I have
read in the last week:
"Refiner's are having difficulty in producing the new gas
standards, therefore the demand for crude has been reduced and
the prices for crude have had upward pressure".

Something akin to saying:
"The man fell out the window and floated upwards."

Gas stocks continue to fall.
Even more significantly, heating oil and diesel fuel stocks are
reaching an all time low.
Not a problem now - but it would be when winter sets in.

In my paradigm, of course, it is irrelevant, in face of the
events that I expect before that time. Also the possibility of
an "October Surprise" regarding the stock markets and in
connection with the US presidential election.

Still, the election, winter, and other events are on my
calendar. I cannot predict what will happen about any individual
event, but I can recognize them as points of potential crises.
