I agree totally. Organic foods are better for you and the environment. If pesticides are so safe, why do they recommend throwing away clothes that have been contaminated by them, rather than washing them. If you do, you have to scrub the washing machine, while wearing rubber gloves, as the pesticides contaminate the washer. You also have to hang them outside for at least 1-2 days so the sun can break down the chemicals. My husband farms for his dad, and we both are certified to buy farm chemicals, and the literature on them is pretty interesting. Every year they have to buy stronger and stronger chemicals to fight the weeds and bugs that become immune to the chemicals. An old farmer said in the thirties, when nitrogen fertilizers were new, no one wore gloves or protective clothing. He hand a rare cancer on both hands. He knew personally of 25 people in our area who had it. The rate of this type of cancer is usually 1 in every 750,000. There are not that many people in this area, and they all blame the chemicals. Our area has the fourth highest cancer rate per capita in the USA and 15 in the world. We are talking about an area with less than 100,000 people. That, to me, is an astonishing figure.
