WHY RUMOR MILL NEWS IS ENDORSING ROB ROBERTS

Rob Roberts is a candidate in the Republican Primary in the 17th Congressional District of California. If he wins the primary, he will challenge incumbent Congressman Sam Farr (D) in the November election.

Rumor Mill News Agency “lives” in the 17th Congressional District. We have followed Mr. Roberts’ for many years and we feel he is the only Republican Candidate who will be able to defeat Sam Farr in the November election.

Regular readers of RMNews know that we have been warning about the coming “race war” for several months. Just today, the racial rhetoric spewing from President Clinton, was inciting African Americans to demand “justice” in the Diallo case. Reading between the lines, our President has given angry black New Yorkers permission to do anything they “deem” necessary to bring about “justice.” More than likely, this is the President’s way of helping his wife win the Senate seat by continually making Mrs. Clinton’s opponent, Mayor Guilani, look like an inept racist.

The Democrats have used “race relations” and “welfare” to keep the African American community firmly locked within the Democratic Party since the days of Roosevelt. Rob Roberts has the ability to defuse this coming “Race War” by exposing the big lie.

Rob Roberts is an American who just happens to be descended from African Americans! He is an American, a Constitutionalist, a Conservative, a Patriot, a Veteran, a single father raising two boys, AND he is a Republican. Most importantly, Rob has seen through “the big lie” and has the intelligence, the articulation and the education to make other people... of all colors... see through it also!

Roberts is our local version of Alan Keyes... AND he is just as well informed on the issues as he is well spoken!!

RMNews believes Rob Roberts will not only serve our local area better than the Democratic incumbent, but he will bring a “calming” voice to the heated conditions of race relations throughout the United States.

Rob Roberts understands media manipulation and therefore he will be able to “go around it”. Rob can speak to average Americans because he is one of us! Americans, of all colors and races will listen to Rob, because when Rob Roberts tells the truth, people KNOW it IS the truth!! They FEEL it deep within in their hearts and souls! Rob has the ability to reach people on a heart and soul level. Because of this, he will be able to bypass the controlled media and embrace the American people directly.

Washington D.C. needs Mr. Roberts’ voice... NOT just in Congress, but on nationwide talk shows and behind the podium at NAACP meetings. Rob Roberts is the cooling salve this nation needs to bring real justice, not just to “race relations” but to inequality on all levels.

Race Relations: Both declared Democratic Presidential candidates, Mr. Gore and Mr. Bradley, have declared that a comprehensive discussion of race will be prevalent in both of their campaigns. I welcome and applaud their announcement. Racial animus is a serious problem and one which possesses the potential to destroy this great nation. For far too long politicians in this country and particularly in the Democratic party have utilized race as a wedge issue. While not absolving Republicans, Democrats have been especially loathsome in their manipulation of racial politics. I am an American first and foremost; that I am black comes almost as an afterthought. I am not an "African-American", I am an American, period!

Political Philosophy: I am a registered Republican and a fiscal conservative. My position on social issues range from moderate to conservative. I believe that there is an appropriate place in our lives for government, but that the bloated and all too intrusive nature of the current bureaucratic monster, of our own making, at all levels needs to be significantly pared down and made more efficient and responsive to the people it purports to serve. http://voterob-in.com/positions.htm

U.N.: I believe that the United Nations is a largely corrupt and ineffectual institution. The few accomplishments accorded to them are farcical and largely ceremonial in nature. Participation in this organization by the United States, justifiably deserves significant curtailment in terms of both physical and financial support.

The United Nations has proven to be a largely redundant rubber stamp for American leadership in the post cold-war world. I do not believe that either the short-term or long term strategic interests of the United States are well served by membership in this body.

The United States as a sovereign nation, has largely undermined validation of the UN's long-term existence by insisting that our national interests will always outweigh any UN dictates or policy; this is as it should be.

Kosovo: We do not belong in KOSOVO. America can not and should not attempt to police the rest of the world. The fact that we now have American soldiers placed in harms way in both Bosnia and Kosovo to no apparent substantive end is equally disturbing, and frustrating, to me.

NATO: As a veteran who served in Europe, I am deeply disturbed by the precedent setting action in the recent Kosovo action initiated by the Clinton administration. For the first time in its history, NATO turned from being a strictly DEFENSIVE alliance and initiated OFFENSIVE operations against no true threat to NATO. This is expressly forbidden by the NATO charter and constitutes a dangerous departure from a policy that served this nation well throughout the perilous "cold war" years - when the very existence of freedom often hung in the proverbial balance. The powder keg that is Europe is no place for experimentation.

NAFTA/GATT: The flow and concept of free trade is one which I eagerly embrace. However, the flow of free trade is a two way street! The continued trade imbalances that exist and are allowed to grow as a direct result of a feckless national policy directly threaten the continued viability of our economy and the American worker. We must insist that our trading partners are as open and fair in making their markets available to our industries as ours are to them. Competition, when fairly accommodated and insisted upon, is the lifeblood of any economy.

Voter Fraud: The sanctity of the vote has largely been defiled and devalued during the past decade. Several states have shamelessly rendered the vote nothing more than a political plaything, in the process blaspheming this most precious of constitutional rights. It is apparent to me, that leadership from the Federal government in the form of updated and more stringent guidelines to the states are called for. I support the following:

1) All voters having to show U.S. citizenship.

2) All voters establishing and validating their identity by the mandatory requirement of having to show some form of acceptable and credible picture identification.

3) Increasing significantly the punitive monetary penalty for voter fraud.

4) Implementation of mandatory felony penalty counts and imposition of mandatory Federal sentencing guidelines for persons convicted of voter fraud

Gun Control: As a gun owner and member of the National Rifle Association (N.R.A.), my views on gun ownership are grounded in common sense and shared by most Americans. I believe that gun ownership is a constitutionally guaranteed right that is not absolute. States have the right to regulate gun ownership within constitutional parameters. Along with gun ownership comes the responsibility for properly maintaining and controlling access to personally owned weapons.

The implementation of ever increasingly restrictive legislation only results in the deprivation and abridgement of the rights of honest and law abiding citizens to legally own and possess fire arms. Insisting on enforcement of the over 24,000 Federal, State and local laws currently on the books is the direction in which we should concentrate our efforts. New laws accomplish absolutely nothing when it comes to fire arms ownership. In addition, criminals do not care one wit about gun control; as long as there are criminals, they will have illegally procured weapons. A million laws will not and can not change that.

In 1996 the fever of gun confiscation swept the countries of Australia and Great Britain. The results of this emotional reaction are quite revealing. After guns were confiscated in Australia, armed robbery increased by 44%, assaults were up 29%, and homicides actually increased by 3.26% In England and Wales, robberies increased by 81%, assaults increased by 53%, and burglaries doubled. Did gun confiscation programs in these countries prevent crime? Obviously, not.

Individual gun ownership is one of the cornerstones and guarantor of our democracy and is supported by our Constitution. I will actively oppose the licensing and fingerprinting of law abiding gun owners; this proposal is Orwellian and in direct contravention to the 2nd Amendment which dictates that "Congress shall make no laws" restricting gun ownership. I support responsible gun ownership by law abiding citizens.

Taxation: As Americans, we pay far too many taxes. Our government "steals" far too much money from the average working American, often to buy votes. We must insist that our government improve on the poor and careless manner that they spend the money we give to them now, while cutting what we do give them. I will never under any circumstances vote to levy any new taxes during my time in Congress. This promise also includes the imposition of any new "fees" which are nothing more than taxes.

Rob Roberts is the only candidate, on a local or national level, that RMNews is endorsing. If you live in the 17th District of California and are a registered Republican — Please Vote Rob In!
