FOCUS-Rain dampens Austria's anti-Haider rally

VIENNA, Feb 19 (Reuters) - Thousands of Austrians marched through Vienna on Saturday in their biggest protest yet against the new coalition of conservatives and Joerg Haider's far-right Freedom Party.

But the early turnout fell far short of the 200,000 people organisers had hoped for. Police said some 30,000 demonstrators had gathered at four meeting points in the city centre by late afternoon amid steady rain.

Much bigger crowds were expected to converge on Heldenplatz (Heroes' Square) in front of Vienna's imposing Hofburg Palace for a final rally starting at 6 p.m. (1700 GMT).

Buses and trains brought protesters from other cities, Italy and Germany. Around 100 German anarchists clashed with police at the Westbahnhof railway station, but there were no arrests.

Haider, who is not in the cabinet sworn in two weeks ago, described the march as a "type of provocation" and repeated earlier allegations that people were being paid to attend, claims strenuously denied by the organisers.

Comment From Rayelan: Haider is careful not to say things that he can not prove. When he charged the Austrian President with treason, the controlled media dismissed him as being hysterical. Then a Copenhagen newspaper confirmed that Austrian President Thomas Kleistl had asked EU officials to impose sanctions on Austria if Haider's party became part of a coalition government.

I expect that it will soon be proved that the demostrators who are flocking to Vienna are paid agent provocateurs of radical left wing movements that are funded by New World Order Organizations.)
