you are not alone in your musings, nor in your patient wait. there may come a time, though, when circumstances demand a decision or a course of action; this is what distresses me.

in Contact, if the viewer accepts the possible explanation that the super-wealthy industrialist/engineer was the source of the original 'contact,' we recall a point in the film where the human team needed help decoding the content of the contact message. that message, curiously enough, is similar in nature to the Chilbolton 'reply' in that it is ostensibly a response to a broadcast transmission made by inhabitants of Earth many years previously (the television broadcast of the German-hosted Olympic Games, in the movie; the Arecibo transmission in real-life) .

we can, then, expect the content of these crop circle "messages" to become more recognizable and decipherable over time. clearly, they are intended for consumption by the people at large. maybe, we're just not getting it quickly enough, "not thinking like Zetans."

commentary at the bottom the most recent post, Chilbolton Message Decoded, regarding the Chilbolton message suggests that it may be US (humans) answering ourselves, rather than an alien culture responding to our message.
i propose that this may be true, but in a different sense: what if rather than an alien culture contacting us across space, it is indeed US responding to ourselves across time--a future or past version of ourselves is responding to the selfsame message transmitted from Earth a quarter-century ago. who else would be so attuned to the content of the Arecibo message as to respond so accurately, with regard to both context and semantics?

instead of "THEM" saying, "we're similar to you," it is "US" saying "we ARE you."

This perspective derives from a recent posting, The Real Disclosure, within which are made claims that the MOVERS and SHAKERS are far less interested in OUTER SPACE, as in INNER SPACE--inside the Earth, and inside the human psyche.
