Tickets On Sale Aug. 20 For President’s Forum Guest Janet Reno

WACO, Texas — Tickets for the upcoming Baylor University President’s Forum, featuring former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno, will go on sale Monday, Aug. 20, at the Bill Daniel Student Center ticket office on the Baylor campus.
Reno will address the importance of public service, as well as share some reflections on the 1993 Branch Davidian standoff near Waco, during “An Evening with Janet Reno” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at the Ferrell Center.

Tickets for the general public are available at $25 for floor seats, $15 for the lower arena and $10 for upper arena seats. Baylor faculty and staff tickets are $20 for floor seats, $10 for the lower arena and $5 for upper arena seats. Tickets for Baylor students are free with a student ID. The nation’s first female attorney general and the longest serving attorney general since before the Civil War, Reno headed the world’s largest justice and law enforcement office for nearly eight years from 1993 to 2001. Before her appointment as attorney general, she served for 15 years as the state attorney for Dade County. Reno is a native of South Florida and a graduate of Coral Gables High School, where she was a debate champion, Cornell University and Harvard Law School. Now living in the family home built by her mother in South Florida, she continues to be involved with the issues important to her, including dispute resolution, advocacy for children and the elderly, and problem solving in law enforcement.

The purpose of the Baylor President’s Forum is to bring to campus nationally and internationally recognized leaders who promote dialogue about, and greater understanding of, important issues facing our nation and world. The audience is composed of students, faculty and staff, and members of the Central Texas community.

A group of Baylor student leaders will meet with Reno during an afternoon question-and-answer session, as they have with past President Forum lecturers Archbishop Desmond Tutu, former Republican presidential candidate Steve Forbes and panelists from The McLaughlin Group. Former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher, who visited Baylor two years ago as a university lecturer, also participated in a student-led question-and-answer session.
