Friday 15 June 2007 witnessed the first of a pair of signals -- delivered via Mercury -- indicating the emergence of Homo Noeticus in Earth Humanity. On that day Mercury appeared to come to a halt in the sky, as observed from Earth, and for the next 25 days the Messenger retraced his steps, appearing to travel from 11+ Cancer in the Tropical Zodiac back to 2+ Cancer. The Sabian symbol for that degree speaks of a need for "warming":
A MAN BUNDLED IN FUR LEADS A SHAGGY DEER.
Keynote: The need to overcome stagnation and "cold" during trials of endurance.
Keyword: A TESTING OF THE WILL.
In his commentary for this symbol Dane Rudhyar wrote:
This rather enigmatic symbol has suggested an exploration in arctic regions; but it seems more relevant to see in it simply the difficult phase imposed by the new allegiance upon the reoriented consciousness.
Analyzing the 360 Sabian Symbols in his 1973 book, Rudhyar discovered a rigorously consistent structure in the images channeled by Elsie Wheeler in 1925. The Keynotes, Keywords, and Commentaries Rudhyar developed for the 360 symbols were adapted to fit this rigorous framework: 24 groupings of 3 sets of 5 symbols each. Rudhyar named each of the 24 "Scenes" within this framework.
The Mercury Retrograde of 15 June - 10 July occurred in a slice of Zodiac that happens to correspond to the Scene named DECISION, hence "the difficult phase imposed by the new allegiance upon the reoriented consciousness."
The chart on the left below shows Mercury in 11 Cancer 36, less than six degrees from the Moon at the June 15th Station. At the 10 July Station in early Cancer, Mercury resumed apparent prograde motion and once again advances to 11 Cancer 36 tomorrow, 24 July, as shown in the chart on the right below. (Mercury is in the upper left quadrant, above the Sun.)
Also, note the two blue glyphs in the lower right quadrant. They represent the location of Jupiter (near the Moon at the bottom) and Chiron (the "blue key" glyph). An arc of slightly more than 63.5 degrees is described between Jupiter and Chiron. If that is considered close enough to qualify as a "Sextile" (a sixth of a circle, or 60 degrees) then Jupiter Chiron and Mercury form what is called in astrological parlance a "Finger of God".
In "The Creation of Adam" Michelangelo depicted a passive and languid Adam below, an active and initiatory God above, yet God is shown almost side-by-side with Adam. The well-known painting on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel conveys the significance traditionally associated with the astrological "Finger of God" configuration.
A more archaic name for the pattern is YOD, also spelled Yodh or Yud, the 10th letter in the Hebrew alphabet and a Tora Pointer.
Mercury occupies the position in the YOD regarded as the energy release point in the configuration. Within a range of about two degrees, Jupiter and Chiron are both 150 arc degrees from Mercury. That's the 5 x 30 harmonic, 5 representing the 5th Direction ("up"), the principle of Ascendancy, the articulating Thumb of the Creator species, and the capacity for Adaptive Response. In the 24 July Mercury YOD, the 150-degree arc brings resonance from Jupiter and Chiron to and through the Messenger. In the traditional framework Jupiter is all about VISION and Chiron is known as "The Wounded Healer". Jupiter and Chiron close to the 60-degree arc signifies that Healing is on the ascendancy, and Mercury signifies that such a "message of healing" is being conveyed to attentive observers in the current flow of events.
In the Sabian symbol for 12 Cancer an infant is revealed as "THE REINCARNATION OF A GREAT TEACHER". Could this be interpreted as a reference to a "restoration" -- the "rising up again" (Renaissance) of the spiritual heritage (Golden Fleece) in humanity (Group Earth) ??

There is some basis to say that the 24 July configuration does not fully qualify as a YOD. Technical purists might consider the 63.5 degrees of arc between Jupiter and Chiron to be too far out of range for the "sextile" to be active. The allowed range is usually 60 degrees plus or minus 3 degrees, and some would allow only 2 degrees. It's a close call.
