He is still alive isn't he? Is Smigel the one who did this? Who is he?
billy... do you know where he is now and what he's doing?
And can someone tell me what the last stanze means?
: Why'd they take Norm MacDonald away?
:
: Because he made too many jokes about O.J. ,
: but Lorne Michaels overruled.
: Now don't be fooled.
: He and Marion Barry
: went to the same high school.
Also... look at this one... I missed it completely just watching the video...
: That's a footnote by the way.
: A footnote protects you from folks who doubt what you
: say.
: Now maybe the voices in my head will go away.
The part about stopping the voices in his head is amazing and very synchronistic right now. I have halfway suspected that the astronaut, Lisa Nowak was hearing voices in her head... NASA created the devices that put voices in people's heads... I suspect these devices have been used by all the alphabet agencies and all the alphabet networks that that have been spawned from the alphabet agencies.

: Lyrics to Media-opoly Song
:
: (In reply to Raye's "Media-opoly" post )
: Great video! I can see why it was never on again. Hey, maybe
: Smigel could be invited to post here!
: Thankfully there is YouTube et.al. so these little works of
: art can see the light of day again. I found the lyrics to
: the song they are singing here in the Smigel cartoon:
: I'm thinking of taking this and adding the words on like
: subtitles. That would give it even more impact because the
: words are really wild!
: Set the vid going and then you can read along as you listen
: to the song . It's a riot. It's a very strange experience
: because the strong style of the music covers up somehow
: these heretical and subversive mutterings as if it were not
: there! This video cartoon has to be one of the greatest
: examples of something you might call "stealth TV"
: where someone manages to disguise a forbidden utterence so
: well that it is initially ignored. Imagine the disgust
: outrage of NBC corporate executives when they finally (too
: late) got the actual words of the song they had broadcast
: (which you are about to read yourself) in Smigel's cartoon!
: Talk about seeing red.
: Smigel's cartoon might even fall into the class of parables,
: wisdom disguised within little seemingly harmless stories.

: Here are some lyrics to one of Robert Smigel's cartoons "
: Saturday T.V Funhouse " on SNL last season.
: Incidently it was only shown that one time and NBC pulled
: it when that episode was rerun.
: (The song and cartoon are like those old School House Rock
: cartoons obviously)
: School Room Rock is back on the block
: with Conspiracy Theory Rock.
:
: LYRICS:
: It's a media-opoly
: A media-opoly .
: The whole media is controlled by a few corporations
: thanks to deregulation by the FCC.
: You mean Disney, Fox, WestingHouse, and good ol GE?
: They own networks from CBS to CNBC .
: They can use them to say whatever they please,
: and put down the opinions of any one who disagrees .
: Or stuff about PCB's .
: What are PCB's?
: They come from power plants built by WestingHouse and GE .
: They can give you lots of cancer that can hurt your
: body,
: but on network TV, you rarely hear anything bad about the
: nuclear industry.
: Like when WestingHouse was sued for fraud?
: Which time?
: GE made defective bolts.
: It was an unreported crime.
: Or when it was boycotted for robbing nuclear bomb plants
: just to sqeeze a dime.
: That's a footnote by the way.
: A footnote protects you from folks who doubt what you
: say.
: Now maybe the voices in my head will go away.
: But the bigshots don't care .
: They're all sitting pretty.
: Thanks to corporate welfare .
: What's that now?
: They get billions in subsidies
: from the government .
: It's supposed to create jobs,
: but that's not how it's spent.
: They use PACs and soft money
: to support congressmen
: who will vote for weapons programs again and again
: and let them dump toxic waste where the young ones play.
: GE made the bullets that shot JFK.
: You contribute to this chain every time you buy a product
: sponsered on this show.
: That's what NBC doesn't want you to know.
: So the next time... BEEP
: Please stand by .
: Please stand by.
:
: It means there's technical difficulties
: supposedly,
: so if you see
: a " Please Stand By ",
: you know it's all part of GE's big lie .
: Why'd they take Norm MacDonald away?
:
: Because he made too many jokes about O.J. ,
: but Lorne Michaels overruled.
: Now don't be fooled.
: He and Marion Barry
: went to the same high school.
