Dear Friends
This is BIG. As the Vatican addresses now the subject of Cosmology obliquely I will list a few things: Here but merely a small post as an introduction that summarizes or presents some viewpoints.
The Moon is passing Jupiter in Scorpio today, beneficially aspecting Uranus in Pisces, An appropriate moment I chose to present this for a further investigation to reach new visions. I hope you enjoy it.
Anticipating with the planetary alignments in effect (Saturn opposite Neptune) during the coming year the discussion on "Intelligent Design" (ID) which is now addressed by the Vatican, I felt we could look at it just as well and keep the inquiry going. It is perhaps helpful to begin listing some links so we have an idea what the discussion is about. You would want to study the given links to better understand things better, and later I might add viewpoints from several sources.
.
What is the theory of intelligent design?
The theory of intelligent design holds that certain features of the universe and of living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, not an undirected process such as natural selection.
From: http://www.discovery.org/csc/topQuestions.php#questionsAboutIntelligentDesign
This link brings up the question of who is behind the promotion of this idea of "ID" and it would seem it is a fundamentalist Christian thinktank called Discovery Institute, see: http://www.discovery.org/
A useful documentation with a plethora of links:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discovery_Institute
The discussion of "ID" is then explored further here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intelligent_design
This is the page we would need to study - All the links.
One could come to the conclusion that one would have to question "ID" basically because of where it was hatched and beased on the agenda of the think tank that proposes it. This leads to (or can be seen as part of) the discussion of Creationism which is somewhat in contrast to most cosmologies that make really any sense when seen frm the viewpoint of the SEER:

Opposite of (or different than) all of the above you have the notion of "HUMAN DEVOLUTION" - A Vedic Alternative to Darwin`s Theory,
see: http://www.humandevolution.com/ - by Michael A. Cremo
These are the books I personally recommend:
- Cremo, Michael A.; & Thompson, Richard L. (1993). Forbidden Archeology: The Hidden History of the Human Race. Bhaktivedanta Institute. ISBN 0963530984.

I am convinced personally that neither creationists or intelligent design proponents ((nor the Vatican for that matter)) can have a coherent discussion without having absorbed, thoroughly understood, the works by David Hatcher Childress & Michael A. Cremo. It will take a severe change of mindset, really a radical departure from the old thinking, in order to come to a realization that is useful.
Creationists are criticized for failing to present original research and evidence that would overthrow our contemporary view of human origins in favor of another. However, this is not an entirely correct accusation.
There is a "science" field known as OOPARTS, or "Out Of Place ARTifactS" -- a lively area of study with countless examples of mysterious or "anomalous" finds in the archaeological record. They utterly challenge "scientific" chronologies and models of human evolution. In fact they nullify science as we had it.
Here one example - The Coso Artifact
See: http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/coso.html

While ongoing discoveries are forcing "scientists" to reassess the technology of ancient civilization, critics regard most cases of OOPArts as the result of mistaken interpretation or wishful thinking. Supporters see them as evidence that mainstream science is overlooking huge areas of knowledge, either willfully or through ignorance.
Many OOPArts are of interest to creationists and others who are seeking evidence to refute the theory of evolution, or to support religious descriptions of pre-history, or to support ancient astronaut theories.
See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancient_astronaut_theory
OOPArts also help to support the notion that other civilizations existed, which had knowledge far beyond our own - and in some way almost any theory that challenges the accepted view of human history has used OOPArts in an attempt to bolster its arguments.
So, OOPArts are in a way the "facts" that stare all the theories and ideologies in the face, from across time and space. It is a challenge - kind of like the monolith of Kubrock in "2001: A Space Odyssey"
Famous OOPArt Cases are listed here very neatly, dozens of them:
