Hear, hear - yes, if indeed! After studying this matter for a while now I have come to the conclusion that it was WANTED EXACTLY THAT WAY. The implementing of "rogue elements" into the first hours of the American Independence Movement of THE STATES made sure it would happen that way. 33% sure! :) B.t.w.- American Civil War was about whether or not states have a right to secede from the union, and whether a (then "unconstitutional") central government would rule the states.
And "they" passed with flying flags...
Most probably, Lincoln needed an issue to sell that war and chose slavery as the cover for a war of conquest in the South...
