This is my way of simplifying what I can tell you about the alignment ahead. The alignment Saturn-Neptune spells out into a reality check point, and it is explained here in more depth. The opposition of the two planets is the dominant reality beginning in summer 2006 and lasts until summer 2007. Here is what it will entail:
The economy will change. The politics will change. The climate will change. The awareness will be raised. It will mirror down if not produce or engineer these net effects, just before Jupiter joins Pluto in the galactic center where everything will be very clear to everyone here:

The opposition Saturn to Neptune brings over time (a year at least) a new reality and the advanced understanding of different quantum realities. We begin to live as quantum fields in the quantum field. We start to understand magnetism and the fact that the human being is a magnetic field itself with many etheric bodies. A Cosmic Medicine from a dimension beyond our previous knowing is being taught to those who can connect to it.
There can be a merging of realities or of "dimensions" during this phase taking place. People will begin to feel this acutely - as the phase progresses. The unseen or invisible world becomes visible, whereas the visible world seems more and more unreal. The fears of the unknown will be causing many people great anxiety. However the inspiration coming from this alignment gives rise for great expectations among visionaries who work with the guidance of Cosmos and are thus able to bridge the two worlds.
Neptune rules and deals with that which we can summarize as the surreal, visionary, illusionary and the ephemeral, or unreal whereas Saturn is interested in what is 'real', or cold hard measurable reality than can be grasped and quantified. Saturn is also separation whereas Neptune is merger. On the other hand Neptune dissolves and Saturns limits.
This means that when Saturn moves into a hard or challenging open aspect with another outer planet, then it tends to bring out into the open the negative side of that planet and the sign the planet is in. We saw this in 2001-2003 with the Saturn Pluto opposition. It was at this point that we began to question the value of information, while Saturn was in Gemini.
While in 1971 Saturn -- also in Gemini -- opposed Neptune in Sagittarius, it opposed Pluto in the same spot in 2001. You can easily see the correlations, and now Saturn opposes and challenges again Neptune, but from the Leo vantage point and into the Aquarius slice of the heavens. This changes the nature of the opposition considerably.
Neptune in Sagittarius was mirroring down the introduction of new spiritually based reality models. Zen became "en vogue" in the West with the teachings by the masters from the East who arrived in the West. The international and cross-cultural boundaries fell in the Gemini-Sagittarius axis.
Neptune in Aquarius is concerned with merging concepts of Oneness. While Sagittarius Neptune emphasized SEEING (Zen) the Aquarian Neptune looks into KNOWING. It holds sway over issues such as precognitions, psychism, mind control, movie industry, photography, high art, oil industries, water, oceans, leaks, floods, delusions, illusions, dreams, denials, and so many more things hard to pinpoint really.
Whereas Saturn - particularly when in Leo - acts as lord of the tangible reality check point, order, law, structure, governments, architecture, space and time, and then somewhere in quantum physics it joins Neptune's shamanism. It is this axis where limitation meets that which has no boundary. The sphere without centre.
When Saturn is in Leo, measuring gold, and checking into what authority and regality are about, it will oppose Neptune for a long time. This will coincide with a time of maximum delusion and of mass psychotic denials, which can mean that cracking down on drugs could be one thing that will be prevalent then, but other memes do come to mind, such as tidal waves and droughts.
So in that respect the worst and the best have yet to come. Saturn makes no long standing hard aspect until then to any other OUTER planet. To me this means that by mid 2006 the mirage of everything will be high-lighted, or over, as the case may be, economy for one, but many other illusions we held dear will by then be inspected. This is why I feel the economy downturn will become clearly palpable by mid 2006.
On the other hand, Saturn in Leo opposing Neptune in Aquarius all of 2006 and 2007 will also determine who is leader and who is 'people', and that too will not be very clear to determine with Neptune in inter-dependently originated and vision orientated Aquarius. Individualism and globalism are key words of a Leo-Saturn to Aquarius-Neptune aspect.
We would have to go back 250-300 years to find a corresponding aspect. 1971 was the last opposition. We see how the issues of 1971 come now to a resolution in 2007, as we summarize the vision. There will be in this time frame and alignment major scientific breakthroughs that explain our reality and how much of it is illusion. We will perceive the soul as a quantum field to become the reality checl point of existence.
This could also be a time when the internet and dissemination of informations of ths nature -- about the ivestigation of what is reality -- will become highly regulated, and we want to think ahead about what we want to do about it. New publishing firms are building technological alliances worldwide so as to reach the end user directly, bypassing the established channels or using them in an integrated way.
You will see complex but necessary teachings materials for the times ahead downloaded on small handheld devices where you can read a 1,000 page book from a small machine, to give you one example. Sony, Amazon, Google and many others join forces while knowing the trends ahead well. There is a veritable revolution going on about how knowledge is brought to people now.
Visions of movies that fit the theme of Neptune opposing Saturn are Spielberg's films 'Artificial Intelligence' & 'Minority Report', Philip K. Dick's 'Blade Runner', and also the new views presented in "What The Bleep Do We Know" -- and more such notions will come to mind.
Time travel will become a prevalent reality during this Neptune-Saturn opposition. Much of this seeing the future from the future will have to do with the aspect itself during that time. Zen of Stars - http://zenofstars.org - will be perceived under this very aspect at first. Science fiction will be checked for facts. Alien stories have to be in the measurable as well as understandeable realm. New findings will be published that match timeless teachings from the stars.
However, what happens with Neptune in opposition to Saturn is that the things we want to measure and check become unmeasurable and dissolve, or the visible becomes invisible, and vice-versa, so I am not yet sure exactly how we will see this thought manifest, but Saturn in Leo will have a hard time to establish authority, if anything I feel that realities and authorities of any kind will be constantly undermined and dissolved by Neptune. At least they will be questioned until a new mindset evolves after Jupiter joins PLuto by the end of 2007.
Any aspect of challenging nature to Neptune produces at best misunderstood action, but it leads often also to undermined activity. It will be a time rife with false beginnings and endless endings. There is faith for the group to come together and to end the time of the dominators by mid 2007, but I would not bet on it. It will be a time when the notion will be discussed.
In politology we can point to some stand off between India (Aquarius) and Pakistan (Leo), and we will see the gold price probably go off the charts, -- (I wrote this phrase in April 2005) -- but that too is not yet a sure thing, in fact with Neptune opposite Saturn nothing will ever be very certain, and in the end it may well be that we will move from illusion to reality and back again, in a shamanic process of diluting the seeming boundaries.
It could be the end of Hegelian dialectics and the beginning of untested understanding coming from direct knowledge. Knowing is a commodity that will come to us via guidance, by engineering right place right time type meetings of the minds. By knowing when to be in what place, and where to be at what time.
Trust is a big issue in this Saturn-Neptune opposition that is in effect for a year. What will make that transit really interesting is that Jupiter will anchor a T-Square in Scorpio (which rules trust issues) to both the opposite players, for a moment, until October 2006, and Jupiter then tends to magnify the issues, such as:
Wisdom and intellect collides with sentiment and psychism, and search for truth is hemmed in by the authority of form-bringer Saturn, and my feeling is that Jupiter will do all this very subtly, but also thoroughly and terminally, from within the Scorpio part of the heavens, until it then moves on to Sagittarius by end of 2007 when it will make its findings known world-wide.
Each time when planets move through the sign Taurus such as now in May 2006, a grand cross forms temporarily between Jupiter, Neptune, and Saturn, and the planets that occupy Taurus where the tendency will be to hold on to the status quo. But this is only temporary.
