Thank you StClair, a timely thought for me.

Silence, or no thought, is the subject of my new booklet called, The Power In Silence, which is the third in a series which began with the Power In Thank You, followed by The Power In Words (which is the one I’m working on now).
Silence is indeed golden, for in the stillness of silence memory has no place, and since memory has no place, in the stillness of silence, then (since the vast majority of our thinking is really reflection upon past thoughts, or a metamorphose of thoughts forming new thoughts from old thoughts) the stillness of silence is not only the place from which we receive inspiration from beyond mind, but is the place we experience life anew with every breath. Silence is empty space. Silence is freedom. Silence allows us to experience life while awake, aware, alert and alive in the moment–experiencing each moment as it happens.
What value does silence have? What benefit is obtained?
Imagine experiencing everything in your daily life without judgement, without complaint, without prejudice, without disquieting past thoughts, without anger, worry or fear tainting your present experience (which experience you would not be fully aware of if your mind is elsewhere). It’s like a young child who has no thoughts about the past disturbing his enjoyment of his present.
If your mind is occupied with thoughts of the past or future, you are not really aware of or fully realizing your experience in the present.
Example: Your mate yells at you, and all day you’re thinking about what your mate said. It’s on your mind all day. You’re hashing it and rehashing it over and over in your mind. It colors your day, affects you AND your day. Your mind, your space (that could be free of those thoughts) is occupied, therefore you cannot enjoy the present nor be free to process needed information.
Thoughts that engender worry, fear, anger and anguish, influence, distort and grotesque your current reality.
When I speak of the stillness in silence, I’m speaking of empty and free space that can be enjoyed for what it is, and also for what opportunities it presents.
What it is, is relaxing, soothing and healing, a place of no being, where thoughts are kept out, all memories, all projections, all current demands your mind is noisily reveling in and wants you to consider.
What opportunities it presents is, is that you are totally aware of what is going on in you and around you, total awareness and knowing of what is going on in the moment, THAT very moment, the RIGHT NOW of your life. This total awareness in the moment has information for you, information you would miss if your mind is preoccupied with thoughts past or future, whether thoughts of worry, fear, anger and anguish, or pleasant thoughts past or future.
A full bucket and a full mind cannot receive more until they are emptied.
A mind contemplating one thought cannot contemplate or receive another.
A mind thinking of the past and future cannot experience the present fully.
If you are spending all your time dwelling on what your mind is thinking, you are never free of your mind and its thoughts, and you are not really alive, living and experiencing your life in the moment.
If you haven’t tried THE STILLNESS OF SILENCE, you do not know its relaxing, soothing and healing affect, nor its capacity for total awareness in the moment and the joys that that brings.
It’s exhilarating to get out of your mind and experience life for real, or, your real life.
When you are not in your thoughts and are awake and conscious (present) in the real world, you learn new things, gain new knowledge and understanding.
When you are not in your thoughts, and are still and silent, you’re giving your spirit, mind and body a break, a rest, a vacation, which heals, invigorates and enlivens your whole being and increases your ZEST for life.
If you want to REST and ENJOY times of freedom and space from the troubles in your world and the world at large (this reality) and re-nourish, replenish and renew yourself in a reality where there is space and freedom, you’ve just got experience going out of your mind.
Learn how to NOT meditate (not think). Just sit or lie down and relax. Then practice not thinking.
