The European states protested the remarks of the Iranian president and said that his statement cast doubt on holocaust without admitting that they have supported a human tragedy against Palestine in the past 50 years.
Asked to comment on demonstrations in Iraq calling for execution of Saddam Hussein, Asefi said that the court is expected to examine Saddam's crimes against the Iraqi people and nations of neighboring states.
A reporter asked whether the propaganda campaign against the Iranian president aimed to cover up latest approval of International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva to recognize red crystal of the Zionist regime in the category of international emblems? Asefi said that what happened in Geneva is a setback to international law.
He said that more than 90 countries including 27 regional states gave negative votes to the protocol and only one regional state abstained and that was the first time that a humanitarian protocol was approved by voting.
"From legal point of view, the situation is a setback to the protocol and Iran believes that 27 negative votes from 28 regional states indicated in what desperate situation the Zionist regime is now."
A reporter asked whether the US economic sanction was responsible for air disasters in Iran and crash of C-130 military transport plane, Asefi said of course the sanctions are effective.
Unfortunately, the US is using its technical and economic potentials as political leverage to attain its foreign policy goals, he said.
Responding to a question about Russia's objection to accession of other countries including Iran to Shanghai Pact, he said that the routine procedure for new membership in regional cooperation pacts is taking part in meetings as observer before acquiring full membership status.
"Full membership in Shanghai pact will take time. Several other states have the observer status like Iran and no objection has been made to Iranian membership. The process of gaining membership status should be accomplished," he said.
A reporter asked whether Iranian Embassy's asset in Italian banks has been frozen, Asefi said that the Italian bank has made a political job and it will more damage Italy's banking system than Iran.
"When a bank takes such a measure under political pressure, in fact it is tantamount to signing its own distinction and normally, the other states will no longer regard the bank and other Italian banks as financial institutes."
He said that Iran would follow up the matter through diplomatic channels.
Asefi said at the end of the meeting that 22 journalists who used to attend his weekly briefing have been among victims of C-130 military transport which crashed last Tuesday....
