London based newspaper Al-Hayat was stating yesterday (excerpt below) that the five senior Syrians to testify in the Hariri-questioning, to be held in Viennese UN-HQ, haven't left Damaskus yet and are to be expected by today in Austria's capital.
Morover Kofi Annan seems to have expressed a diplomatically formulated "I-am-not-amused" against German UN-investigator Detlef Mehlis whose preliminary "spin-'eport" on the Hariri-murder was far too blantant at all...
King Abdullah: "We intervened to reach the Vienna-exit upon Assad's insistence."

King Abdullah: "Chirac is acting as a genuine Arab and the war on Iraq has served Iran." The Custodian of the Two Holy Shrines, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, has revealed a direct Saudi role that was concluded by an agreement over the interrogation of five Syrian officials in Vienna, within the course of the international investigation into the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafic Hariri.
King Abdullah told Al-Hayat in the Royal Diwan in Riyadh that he gave President Bashar Assad many advices, but the response was negative. Then, there was some "self-contemplation" involved; however the core objective is Syria's interest which "concerns us since the days of King Abdul Aziz, just as we are concerned with the interests of every Arab country".
The King considered that had the investigation with the Syrian officials taken place in Lebanon, it would have been an insult to Syria and every Arab country. The same would have been true if it took place in the Golan. Finally, he had decided to intervene after receiving three successive letters from President Assad.
As King Abdullah explained to Al-Hayat, the following happened:
The King sent Prince Bandar bin Sultan, the Secretary General of the Council of National Security, to Syria to reach an understanding with the Syrian President over a way out. They both agreed that the investigation should take place in Switzerland or Austria.
After that, the King sent Prince Bandar to President Jacques Chirac in Paris. By coincidence
[Ed.Com.: LOL - nothing on this level happens by "coincidence"...], the Saudi Envoy arrived at the airport an hour before the arrival of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan. They met at the airport. Annan admitted that the international investigator, Detlev Mehlis, made a mistake by asking to cross-examine the Syrian officials in Lebanon and Annan agreed on holding the inquiry in Switzerland or Austria.
The Saudi Envoy met with President Chirac the next day and submitted the Saudi proposal. Chirac's reply was: "I agree". King Abdullah had asked Prince Bandar to inform President Assad of the outcome of the Saudi mediation. They agreed to hold the investigation in Vienna.
Prince Saud Al Faisal, the Saudi Foreign Minister, had met in Riyadh with the ambassadors of the five superpowers and informed them of what happened. They all agreed on the plan.
King Abdullah criticized the campaign of the Syrian Foreign Minister, Farouk al Shareh, against the United Nations, especially the latter's statement that he will not accept any offense against Syria. The King asked "who would accept an offense against Syria? We do not accept any offense against Syria". He added: "Any harm caused to any Arab country affects us. We do not want anyone to suffer from any agitation, we seek the well-being of all".
King Abdullah dedicate a rare appraisal to President Chirac. He said: "He is chivalrous, honorable, honest and loyal", adding that Chirac is acting as an authentic Arab with the trustworthiness he is showing.
He also revealed that an Iranian Envoy has conveyed a letter about the current situation. The King said that "the alliance between Syria and Iran is historic and strong. Currently, Syria is facing a predicament, while Iran is facing a different predicament". King Abdullah hoped that wisdom would prevail, sparing the entire region from any quake.
King Abdullah voiced his satisfaction with regard to relations with President George Bush and the US administration, even though he expressed some reservations vis- -vis the Congress's position. He said that his country warned the United States from the results of the war on Iraq, the latter came as anticipated by the Kingdom. "The war served the interests of Iran"...
(snip)
...The King seemed touched by the unremitting hardship of the Palestinians, yet he expected "the situation would improve after the election of Amir Peretz as head of the Labor Party".
The King urged the Palestinians to reform their internal affairs. He indicated that there are differences within Fateh; and between Fateh and Hamas. He criticized the launching of rockets, since it is worthless and serves only as a pretext to Israel to respond in a destructive way every time. He called on the Palestinians to uphold a unified stance to achieve their right to a viable independent State.
On another level, Saudi sources said that Dr. Ali Akbar Wilayati, the Advisor to the Iranian Spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has arrived to Riyadh yesterday with a message to the Custodian of the Two Holy Shrines King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, which is the first of its kind.
Sources said that Khamenei's message is related to "strengthening the bilateral relations, which are currently aloof due to the Iranian interventions in the internal Iraqi affairs".
"...Another day with Laurent Murawiec and his book "Princes of Darkness". He targets Saudi Arabia, but it is not really one country.
The neocons, the likudniks and other Israeli apologists in the U.S. have in their sights all the Arabs and Muslims, seeking a "creative destruction" of the Middle East to steal its oil and protect Israel. Dick Cheney asked the Project for a New American Century in 2000 to prepare a study on the region. It was written and presented before 9/11, even before George Bush won the presidency. It called for a sizeable U.S. military presence in the Gulf to guarantee oil supplies. The writers of the study and other neocons wrote letters to Bill Clinton and George Bush calling for an invasion of Iraq. Again, this preceded 9/11. Extreme right wing American politicians, led by Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld form common grounds with Likudniks like Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Pearle, Douglas Feith, Lewis Libby, Kenneth Adelman and David Wurmser in government, and William Kristol, Frank Gaffney, Daniel Pipes, Max Boot, Charles Krauthammer Stephen Schwartz and Murawiec himself on the outside. They are all Jews, but it is not a Jewish conspiracy. It is a neocon-Likud conspiracy...."
Now, we do know by now that this is NOT MERELY a "rightwing" conspiracy, as it is labeled all over the MSM-Medea, but a combined Bolshevistic, "light-reft" one - originating in the "Hoover Institute of WAR, REVOLUTION, AND PEACE" from Stanford with their "godfather", Doyen Pratt Schultz. Similar to "Nazi"-Germany, where those "Jews" were blamed and instrumentalized similarly - but in reality those "usual Zionists" were behind those machinations who were working hand in hand with the Hitler administration...
And the result should be seen all too clearly by today's point of view.
Never again!
