HARIRI ASSASS: WITNESSES "FLEE" FROM MEHLIS-SPIN-'EPORT
Today the questioning of five senior - although not named - Syrian VIPs has been starting at the Viennese HQ of the UN related to Lebanese ex-premier Rafiq Hariri's assassination and the "UN Mehlis Spin-Report" that was published more than one month ago with the goal of accusing Syria of the crime. Reportedly (Al-Balad) those five witnesses were leaving Damskus yesterday. Austrian security-sources refused to comment anything on the matter and security was tightened maximally around the Vienese UN-HQ situated at the river Danube.
Kenzo Oshima is heading the new UN-commitee, responsible for bringing more light into the murky happenings around the death of the Libanese millionairy Hariri and trying to decide again whether Syrian Govt. is really to be "blamed" for having their hands in the planning of the assasination in February of this year and whether "sanctions" will be put into action against the country.
The signs in the foremath of the unfolding events are not firendly for the UN-team. One "witness" of the Mehlis-'eport has been debunked as a convicted felon already and has been boosting that he had been "payed off"...
Meanwhile Syria demands a total new report from UN-investigators.
This Monday another witness - who has been incriminating Syria in the Mehlis-'eport - stated that he had been forced to confess lies. His testimony has been published in a "completely false" way by the Mehlis-'eport, former Syrian intelligence agent Kurdic Houssam Taher Houssam recanted his testimony in an interview broadcasted on Syrian Television. "He had been pressed by means of enormous sums of money and threats to accuse other Syrians". Moreover he pointed at Hariri's son Saad as beeing the one who offered him money for falsly accusing high ranking Syrian officials as culprits.
The "interim" Mehlis-'eport has been claiming "conclusive proofs of the involvement of Syrian and Libanese services"...
And! The statements of another "witness" have been proved questionable. The Syrian citizen Louai Sakka, currently detained in Turkey, has stated that he was offered money for making false statements against Syrian prezi Assad's brother in law, Gen. Assef Shavkat, head of the Syrian secret service.

So, the Syrian government reiterated it played no role in the murder of Hariri and said it suffered "great harm" from a "faulty" UN report blaming Damascus. Furthermore Syria was asking the Commission to uncover the truth about this crime...
The Mehlis panel faces a December 15 deadline to complete its probe of the Hariri slaying.
